    Question about a hypothetical situation

Yesterday in Dubai, Luke Donald hit his drive into a fariway bunker whose face was so high he could not see out of it and therefore he had a blind shot. He got out of the bunker, walked around to the front of the bunker and picked a place where he was going to aim to. What would happen if:

He stood on the grass after the bunker (between the hole and his ball), and then walked straight back to his ball leaving foot prints in the sand along the line he was going to aim at. And then used his foot print as an alignment aid to figure our where to aim when hitting the blind shot out of the bunker.

Would there be a penalty if:
    a) He did this intentionally
    b) He did it accidentally

    Thanks

If the face of the bunker was that high he would probably break his leg stepping (jumping) down into the bunker.
But if he survived then 1) yes and 2) no.

PGA player have close to perfect etiquette.... therefore he would never enter the bunker on the high side. Always find a lowest spot around the edge of the bunker that is convenient to your ball...
If you think it's hard to meet new people, try picking up the wrong golf ball.

Leaving a mark to indicate the line of play is a two stroke penalty, loss of hole in match play.
