720P Projector for DD
I'm looking for a projector, at or under 500 bucks, 720p, 2500 lumen or better, and respectable contrast ratio (2000:1 or better). I think I have narrowed it down to 2.
The Epson EX5200, 2600 lumens, 3 chip LCD technology. Or the ViewSonic PJD 5223, 2700 lumens, with DLP technology.
It's going in the garage so I have lots of options of mounting and positioning.
So what would the forum recommend. Thanks.

I am using an Acer X1261P. It's not a short throw. But I do like that projector. There is even a cheaper one if you use external computer speakers. I purchased it from Wally World.

I ended up with a different projector. I decided on the Vivitek D535. It is 720p native resolution, and a bright 3200 lumens, and a penny below my budget. It was the brightest 720p under budget that I could find.

check out gt750-e optoma and infocus in146. gt750-e thought $735 is very impressive 3k lumens, 3k:1 contrast, 2 hdmi, wxga 720p resolution, accepts 1080p 3d and displays as 720p 3d so you can still watch the latest movies but just in lower HD resolution. btw also great short throw with images 9'1 as big as 12.9 ft x 8 ft.

anyone that has a 720P wxga projector that does both 16:10 and 16:9 can you please identify what make / model. Thanks. Would be helpful since I have not purchased my projector yet. If you know of any other 1080P that would work with a shorter throw let me know to please. thanks.

Myself and a couple others here use the epson 705hd. Check out the specs. For the money ($600 or less) its an awesome 720hd projector. Its lcd and very bright even in ECO mode. The bulp is rated up to 5000 hrs and it only costs $150 to replace. The size is also perfect for mounting. I've been using this now for several months and have no complaints. I watch movies and play video games in 16:9 720hd, and I play DD in the 4:3 mode (because I want a taller screen).
