2 Questions about this board
1. I've noticed the names under everyone's ID, like "Lob Wedge", or "On Tour." I know they are dictated by your posts, but how many are there, it seems everyone has a different one. Just curious.
2. I have to login everytime I post, even when I check the "Remember Me?" box. Anyway around this?
Tks.

I think your browser must be set to either not allow cookies or something is deleting your temporary internet files (where I believe such information is normally stored).

Is there maybe an option I am overlooking in my User Cp which would disable cookies? I can't seem to find any problem with my browser.

Dan,
I am seeing that problem when I try to access a PM from the link in the notification email. It might be a corrupt cookie, but I have so many cookies I don't want to lose, I live with it.
mmills, trying deleting your cookies.
Just a note, I haven't seen this issue with firefox...It could be that the purpose of your life is only to serve as a warning to others.

Hmm even I have to log in for PMs I thought it was a security thing
I will look into this and see if there is anything I can do with the board software, but it may be an XP/IE6 thing. Thanks for the heads up.

As for PMs, the only thing I've found is that my pop-up blocker stops them from opening in a separate window.Golf is a game invented by the same people who think music comes out of bagpipes.

At home I use Netscape 7.0/Mail and it is FAR easier to customize and manage. Plus you have a lot fewer hassles with viruses because 90% of them are written for IE6/Outlook. It has problems with some sites (eg Golf-O-Max) because of site functions that aren't compatible, but that's pretty rare. Firefox looks like an interesting alternative.Golf is a game invented by the same people who think music comes out of bagpipes.

I saw this on another forum with the same issues we see here.
When allowing cookies for this forum remember that if you are coming to forum.ottawagolf.com, allow ottawagolf.com. If you come via forum.kingstongolf.ca then allow kingstongolf.ca, same for golfresource.net, centralontario.ca and golf-florida.us
If you allow only ottawagolf.com, but visit via Kingstonglf.ca. It will not know you.
Let me know if this helps...
Hmmm I think I may have FINALLY figured this out.
I had custom privacy settings so I could opt to block cookies from some sites (e.g. advertising sites) and accept cookies from others (like this one). For whatever reason it was set to block cookies from this site when it should have been accepting them.
Ren, if you go to Tools, Internet Options, Privacy, and under Web Sites click the "Edit" button, you'll see a list of sites. Look for "SiteName.com" under the domain name and see if it's allowed or blocked. I'd bet it's blocked. If so, right click on the site name and select "allow." To the right under "setting" it should say "always allow." If linkscorner.org doesn't show up on the list then you can add it in the box where it says "Address of web site" then select "allow."
Lord only knows why it was set to block cookies from this site. It never even gave me the option, just blocked it without asking as it does for all other sites.

Quick question. Why do people bump their posts? I often see this on various forums and I have always wondered why. I don't think it is fair practice in the classifieds as everytime someone bumps their post it means they are getting first exposure.

They do it to get first exposure.
There is a rule here that you are not to bump ads until 30 days since posting. Price drops do not count as bumps.
If you see a bmp in the classifieds here, just hit the "Report this post to moderator" link and I'll remove it.

The icon to "Report Bad Post" is under the username on the left of every post.
Sorry, they changed it from a text link in the previous version of the software.

Then would a reply such as still for sale or still available within 30 days be considerded a bump as well?

Yes "Still available" is a bump.
Should your thread sit idle for 30 days without selling/trading/or getting your item, you may "bump" your ad. Bumping your ad prior to the 30 days is not permitted.
A "bump" is defined as a post that contains no added pertinent information (price drops, pics, etc.) and is intended to merely bring the post to the top of the forum list. Changing the price is not a bump and is allowed as often as you like.
