Buckingham - We'll be back!
Had the chance FINALLY to get out to this quiet little 'big' course today. Aside from the fact that it was, indeed, a perrrrfect day for golf, it was nothing short of a perrrfect golf experience playing this local course which has, as they say in real estate - "the pride of ownership" - all over it.
You'd be hard pressed to believe that the Ottawa Valley has been going through 30+ degree weather for several weeks from the condition of this course. Fairways lush, 1st cut rough even lusher (lol!) and greens running true and neither fast nor slow...just right! My playing partner and I looked hard but this course shows no signs of the stress experienced by other courses in the local area. Not sure what the groundskeeper's magic is, but he should write a book and let a few other 'locals' benefit from his experience!
A 4-hr Saturday round walking on a long weekend with a tee-off at noon! Not once did we feel either rushed nor delayed. Perhaps we just hit it at the right time...but it would appear from the condition of the course - inclusive of the numerous flowerbeds carefully tended at the tees and on the walkways - that just about any time would be right time to play this little piece of heaven!
If you haven't tried it yet, give it a shot...you won't be disappointed!"If profanity had any influence on the flight of the ball, the game of golf would be a lot easier than it is" - Horace Hutchinson (1903)

What would this course compare to for someone who's never played? Is it like a great conditioned Hammond, or closer to something like Outaouais? Its hard to tell from pics on the website.
Cheers

More like Hammond for sure. It is not as lush as Outaouais. Its quite nice as Imozzie stated with a lot of flours and a lot of tree ined fairways, a few ponds here and there, keep driver in the bag for a lot of tee shots as it will get you in more trouble if you are not straight. You have to play smart and not just bomb it all over as there are a lot of hazards and O.B.

I would put it in the 'great conditioned Hammond' category, however, more interesting in its variety of holes and a more challenging in the sense that you really do have to think your way around it for, as Marcos thankfully advised me in advance, a loose driver will make you pay!
