Question about a friendly skins game
Gropper, myself and two friends are playing Rideaview tomorrow and we want to play a skins game.
Course handicaps (slope=125) for us from the blue tees are:
Chris=7
Reza=15
Player 3=14
Player 4=29
Do we just play with Chris as scratch and us as net difference in course handicap?
If so player 4 gets 22 strokes from Chris. This means Chris would have to Eagle a par 5 just to tie player 4, should player 4 par it (player 4 has blow up holes and good holes). Does this sound right?
I have seen tournaments played at 85% handicap? Would this be more fair for a skins game such as this?
Input is appreciated.Proud member of the 2009 Ryder Cup winning team

You are correct about Chris playing scratch. As for player 4 I would max him out on one stroke per hole and / or only use 85% or around there of your handicaps. It's difficult to beat someone when they are getting a stroke per hole, however you can always rely on the other partners to carry holes over.

At 85%, Chris would play to scratch while myself and player 3 get 6 strokes. Player 4 gets 18.

Give Brian the full 22 strokes. He needs them.

LIke I said before I think a stroke a hole is the most you can give someone. Once you get into 2 strokes a hole the lowest player is truly at a disadvantage.

I agree with Matt, 1 stroke per hole max. If player 4 bails, can I play, I would love to play as a 29 handicapper against Chris....

I see on Oob that the 29 capper had his best game of the season and beat Reza and Chris by net 14 and 17 strokes respectively (tied Reza's gross, only 5 behind Chris). He would have had net birdies on all 4 two stroke holes as well. So did you give them up Reza? You guys paying Brian's mortgage this month?

Well, with the exception of Brian, we all stank it up good. But, what a course. I am in love with Rideau View.
final tally:
Marco = 8 skins
Brian= 6 skins
Reza=3 skins
Chris=1 skin
Oh, and we played 85% cap.Proud member of the 2009 Ryder Cup winning team

We just got a reciprocal at Rideauview so I gotta get out there and play it a couple times this year (FO FREE!!)
I'd say if that's an honest handicap then he gets the strokes, just how it is.
In our men's nights we have guys getting 2 strokes per hole on a few of them and not winning any skins a lot of the time . . just the way she goes.Even I've never heard of me
