    Putting aids

Anyone ever tried the putting arc or Idl putting aids. really struggling with the putter and looking at possibly purchasing one.

I have found them useful. You should know the stroke type you are trying to develop, arc, idl, or stright back straight through.

The mirror off the floor helps, as well as anything that would help keep the left hand from breaking down through the swing.

If you seach threads there are alot of inexpensive ways to make putting aids.

is IDL - inside down the line stroke? (i just google it)

I heard of arc and SBST but not IDL.

If you want a putting aid for SBST, then put a book on either side of the heel and toe of the putter maybe half inch from touching the putter. Try putting without touching the books...if you get good at it then move the books closer to the toe and heel of the putter. SBST stroke works best with a face balance putter.
I saw this tip on the golf channel.

This got me thinking sometimes an extra set of eyes can help. Others may see something that may not be apparent to you but readily apparent to them.

Things such as; alignment, hand movement, decelration, stroke path, shaft position in relation to vertical etc...

I get a friend to check this out on the practice green as they have seen the putting stroke. I suppose the best would be a pro.
