Best value instructor in the area?

    Hi everyone,

Just wondering who people found offered the best value for money instructor wise?

I had a not so great experience with the guy from Target last time I had lessons, not that he was bad but rather disinterested.

I'm probably going to sign up for a set of semi-private lessons with a friend of mine in the next week or two so was hoping for some feedback.

Were both intermediate golfers who shoot in the high 80s on good days, so it's not like we need the most nuanced instruction. Just someone willing to work through the fundamentals we're missing.

    Cheers!

I think value can only be determined by the person taking the lessons. If an instructor charges $100/hr and is personable and you find you are making great improvements then you might feel you are getting great value. Likewise, if you try an instructor who basically says "do this and not this" where you aren't really making any improvements, then takes off to other clients or does work on the range but only charges $70/hr, you might feel like you are not getting any value for your money. It's all about perception.

I've only ever had one lesson and it was Joe Dubinski when he worked out at Falcon Ridge. I won't tell you what I was charged as I was a referral from a friend of Joe's, but he went above and beyond our scheduled hour long lesson. I felt like if Joe treated every client and lesson like he did with me that day, he could charge $150/hr and it would feel like you were getting great value. He's a great guy, and from my brief time with him, a great instructor.

I agree. I knew Joe Dubinski during his stint at OAC winter golf school...a positive experience with Joe. Another fav instructor during those days was Graham Gunn who is teaching at White Sands in Orleans...i believe he teaches the Stack and Tilt swing http://www.orleansgolfacademy.com/grahamgunn.html
