9 hole rounds
I am wondering how posting 9 hole rounds for handicap purposes makes sense. Most courses have 9 hole ratings and enable someone to post a 9 hole score.... what I don't understand is how this woulnd't skew someone's handicap a lot lower than it should be. For example if the course rating for 18 holes is 70, the course rating for 9 holes would usually be around 35... so if I were to go out and shoot 37 going out, it would equate to about a 2 differential assuming average slope, which to me, doesn't make sense since if I had kept going on to play 18 holes the same way, I would have shot 74, which is a 4 differential. I'm sure there must be something in the overall handicap calculation that prevents my handicap from being skewed lower than it really is? Anyone know? Otherwise I feel like I would be cheating myself when only playing 9!

9-hole rounds are counted in pairs. If you enter a single 9-hole round, it won't affect your cap at all. If you then go out and shoot another 9-hole round, the two will be combined to form a single 18-hole score.
