Golf course difficulty
Here's a good article from Matt MacKay of Golf Canada on determining how difficult a course is.

If I played National, I would not play with my pro v1's.

This is a good chance to list the toughest courses you have played.
Based on the tees that I played they are as follows. Most of these courses have one extra tee deck that has an even higher rating and slope. Ouch!
Bethpage Black: 76.6/148
Torrey Pines South: 76.1/139
Spyglass Hill: 75.5/147Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

Teeth of the Dog 75.9 145
Taboo 75.6 153
Fox Harb'r 75.5 141
Dundarave 74.4 143
Played TotD during rainy season. Course very wet. No roll. Just under 7500yards. I felt like my 3 year old hitting 3 wood for every shot LOL. The other 3 are long, but their landing areas are wide for the most part. I don't think they play super difficult.

If you are ever out in the Seattle/Tacoma area of Washington State go play Chambers Bay, a shocking 7585 yards from the tips, I played off the tee's second from back, started with a 490 yard par 4 and the course is at sea level rite on the Puget Sound, from the tee's I played it was still 7075. Hosted the US Amateur last year and hosting the US Open 2015, it will be the longest course in US Open History
