Beginner Golf clubs
Hi everyone,
I'm looking to start playing golf this year. I was wondering what you recommend as a beginner golf club for someone like myself. My strategy is to buy a reasonable set, play for a couple of years and when my game gets to where I could benefit from a better set, I'll upgrade. My questions are: do I buy a new, cheap set or a used set. Is a complete set the way to go? And what brand should I be looking at?
Thanks,

I started off with the 2004 Callaway Big Bertha Irons a couple of years ago and they were great and very forgiving; I would definitely recommend them.
As for your questions:
- You can get some great used clubs on this forum, that's what I did.
- You don't need a complete set, but you should have something pretty close, Driver, some sort of easy to hit hybrid, 19deg or 21deg, 4-PW, SW, and putter of course. You can fill the set in after that as you go along.
- Each brand will have a range of club models from beginner to pro, I would recommend heading to GT and try a few out then see if you can find the older models used.
Good Luck
