2011 Goals

I don't see a thread for this yet, so to follow up on the 2010 goals thread, let's post goals for 2011. I'm pumped!

Mine are:
- Handicap down to below 5
- Regular lessons
- Two birdies in a row
- In contention at my Club Championship
- Win OG Team Matchplay again

Denis my man just a heads up I too wish I could say being in contention at the club championship is a goal of mine but once I heard a certain Allen Mcgee was back pretty safe to say none of us will be in contention, given the already deap talent pool at HP.

so you'll be a 5 handicap up to september and then shoot 10 consecutives esc rounds of 95 to get your handicap over 8, hmmm perhaps i should of done this last year wonder if i still would of 7 putted the 18th in the B fflight. I really think they should have an A & AA, myself at 7 wont compete with the scratch plqyers at the course, they should have 0-5 and 5-9, would make it more interesting.

Hey now, I never said I was going to raise my handicap before the club championship, I only said I was not going to compete in his flight. A 5 handicap can still play in the B flight if nobody knows what their handicap actually is!

I'm just messing around, if my handicap is below 8 when club championship time comes around then you're right, I won't be able to content. Maybe you could bring that up to the committee and see what they say?

So... I was thinking it might be a good time for an early / mid-season check-in on the goals I had set for myself earlier in the year. I know for sure that there's one that I'll need to put some more focus on...

- Get my index down to 2 or lower (already at an all-time low of 3.2)

Currently at 3.0, but I think 2.0 is do-able. Maybe a more realistic goal would have been "in the 2.x range".

- Take 2 or 3 lessons at least (first one tentatively scheduled for next week)

I've taken 2 lessons so far and that'll be it until after the Citizen tournament is over. I'll likely go for one more after that.

- Practice sessions at the Marshes at least twice a week

I've exceeded expectations on this one. I've been going at least 3 times a week.

- Improve my physical conditioning by continuing to use my rowing machine in the summer

I get a big FAIL on this one. I'm playing twice a week and practicing 3 or more times a week. As I'm already predisposed to laziness this one is tough but I've gotta at least start making an effort.

- Increase my total lifetime rounds under par... currently sitting at 1.

Definitely had a golden opportunity last week at eQuinelle considering that I had 4 holes in the round that I played at a combined 7 under par. Doh! If I can continue improving my driver play, I think this is definitely do-able.

- Improve on my previous best Ottawa Citizen showing (T21)... or at least avoid playing
any individual holes at 7 over par.

I guess we'll have to wait and see. Less than a month to go until round 1.

- Try to get my 5-year old son out a little more... and figure out for sure whether he's
a lefty or a righty.

He's been out 2 or 3 times so far. It seems like his boredom threshold is at about 6 holes... unless we've got a power cart and he's allowed to drive. I've decided (after receiving some advice from a clubmaker) that he's going to be a righty... regardless. At least he'll have a full selection of clubs to choose from.

My goals for the year
#1 - Get out more and practice short game.
#2 - Shoot in the high 70's for the first time.
#3 - Get my cap in the single digits (currently 15)
#4 - Hit more farways and greens in regulations.
#5 - BE MORE CONSISTENT

I'd like to finish with a scoring average of 78 or better. Currently I'm at 81. If I can stop shooting 3 or 4 doubles per round, and turn them into bogeys, I'll accomplish my goal.

I've rededicated myself for the 2011 season. My goals are:

-Shoot new personal best round (65 or lower)
-Place in the top 10 in at least one of the Tunis, Kent or Amateur
-Top 25 in Canadian Am
-Tournament scoring average under 74

Some of them are optimistic but it's better to aim high I suppose.

I've qualified myself for the Tunis, Kent and Amateur which was the first step. Tournament scoring average of 72 so far but not many events played. Still need to qualify for the Canadian Am with good finishes in the big 3.

Simple, play the best golf I've ever played, and I'm half way there. Best season since I started playing again and I've only played a handfull of rounds.

Hadn't seen this thread due to being too busy with work and home reno's. Would have said my only goals for the year would be to not let cap rise too much and play at least once a week.

Failed at both, but did buy an annual driving range to try to catch up.

Improve pitching
Get out to practice once a week and at least one game a week.

Well I am taking lessons (maybe not as regular as I should but still), and managed to get two birdies in a row. Realistically, the only other goal I have which is attainable is getting my cap below 5 (now at 6.6). I might set some more goals related to some tournaments/stats in July.

Once already and an 80 , i've been out of the game for the last 3 weeks due to various reasons , but i'm back ready to go.

My original goal for 2011 was to shoot 79, something I have not done for 40 years.

My 4 rounds so far this year are 101, 99, 101, 99: average = 100.

So a more reasonable goal is in order. I notice that I can shoot 5 greens in regulation.

Based on the formula: Score = 95 minus (2 x GIR), I am capable of shooting 85, MY NEW GOAL.

To reach this goal, I have sworn off of the driving range, now hitting several thousand short chip shots, and practicing my putting!

Playing w/ some buddies from the whites today... 300yd par 4. My drive landed 5 feet from the pin. Managed to get my second eagle just two days later!

About 5 holes later a 275yd par 4 I took out my other driver (playing w/ two atm) and stuck it about 4 feet from the pin!. I missed the eagle shot but got the birdie... Two eagles in one game would have been too much.

I almost cant count the eagle and the potential eagle just because of how short then are... :p... But feels pretty good to stick them both that close w/ my driver.

Funny how quick things can happen, a month ago I posted this quote, since then i shot a 76 at Heritage and also drop my cap to 8.8, .3 from a goal I set a month ago, not bad!!
