Hey Tim, tournament golf is different than regular golf. I found that out on the weekend at smugglers. Looking forward to playing more of it!
Good luck buddy!

With me it is more the mental side of things. I find myself thinking more about shots & what I want to do on that particular hole instead of just playing golf. When I make a mistake or have a bad shot, it hurts more because I know each strokes counts, and it is harder to get back. Its easy to get down on oneself. This past weekend I had a little break through and was able to turn things around on the back 9. Hopefully I can transition this experience to future tournament rounds and not take so long to get back on the straight and narrow.

Hmm... That's strange. Looked at the schedule and it's on Jul. 20 now, I could've sworn it was on Jun 22 when I registered... oh well.
Scotty, as for what's different, the biggest difference for me was that every shot counts and you only get one go at it. I'm used to playing matchplay or stableford tourneys, where if you screw up one hole you're still alive. Well, I found out at smugglers that one hole can easily knock you out of the tournament, so you have to play more conservatively, maybe not go for some pins, or hit a fairway wood off the tee on some holes... You just can't have any lapses if you want to be in contention. I must say it opened a whole new dimension to golf that I never really saw before, and it's a lot of fun!

My hc was 8ish when I applied but I'm 4.4 now, I should probably inform the organizers to put me in the right class eh?

On the day of registration you bring a print out of you index. They will also send out an email a few days prior for an update as well. This is So they flight everyone correctly and get the tee times grouped also.

I haven't seen anything posted about final sign up days. I have seen them keep registration open up to a few days prior to the event. For the Niagara event they had 72 sign up then they extended it a within the last week to 84 to allow for more people to play.

I'm at 6.1 right now and at the minimum index for A flight. What are the odds that it doesn't lower before this tournament? I really don't want to be the worst player in the Championship flight

Start playing left handed and you won't have to worry

Well, actually, playing left-handed would count towards a separate index
I'm in the same boat, just with different flights. Index is 12.6 right now, with the cutoff for B flight at 12.1. A little breathing room, but not a lot.
