Shafting Beads and Assembly
To all the club assemblers out there, are shafting beads necessary and who uses them? Also, a comprehensive link to re-shafting would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Beads are mostly used to center a shaft when the fit is a bit loose. Some folks use them all the time but it is not necessary.

Every club builder should have a supply of centering beads. You'll find that they are necessary in your arsenal for complete club assembly.
Some people are like Slinkies... they're really good for nothing, ... but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs...

I use shafting beads all the time. If there's any play at all between the tip and the hosel, it's the best way to ensure that you're going to get a uniform fit with no deflection, and no potential stress "hot spots" on the shaft tip.
A word of caution, shafting beads should only be used when fitting the same hosel and tip sizes (eg .370 to .370, etc), and never in place of a shim, or hosel adapter when trying to bridge the gap between a larger hosel diameter and a smaller tip size (eg .350 to .335)When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.

There are zillion of clubs put up every year without shafting beads. To my knowledge no OEM use them and as a matter of fact their epoxy does not have
the same strength as aftermarket.Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.
