I put out a feeler to one person already, but tentatively still looking for a team if my PM falls through. My handicap card here on OG says I'm an 8.7. We'll see how that progresses up or down at the beginning of the season!

In singles match play, can I decline to accept strokes against a competitor who has a lower handicap than me and play this person straight up?

Pablo, don't let your swollen head cloud your judgement, I am sure if MParé was around he would take you up on that and his change pouch would get a little fuller. Craiger and I are looking forward to playing in the team match play this year once again.

LOL, my swollen head has nothing to do with it! It's just so much simpler to play straight up. No algorithms or scientific calculators needed. It would also be more rewarding to beat someone better than me without getting strokes. But whatever, I'll play by the rules.

I agree with that for sure, straight up is easier and probably more fun but with strokes in match play the strategy can add a lot more spice to the game. I look forward to playing with you and Denis again soon.

Unfortunately it's not a good fit for me. I have my regular group at my home course and I hardly ever play on weekends. That doesn't work when setting up matches in a tournament like this.
