Now that's a tough question if I ever heard one. Who produced more of the highest quality players, fixing the most difficult problems... was it Harvey Penick, David Leadbetter, or Butch Harmon?

Kevin Haime has recieved an award for Teacher of the Year... 2000, if I remember correctly. It's hard to dispute his mastery of teaching in the Ottawa area.

But I'm sure we don't need to be reminded that one man can't be all things to all people. I'd bet that any teacher in the area has a shot at being 'best' with the right person in the right situation.

    YMMV

Not really sure how you could vote for who is
the best...unless u used every teacher in the
area....then you could make a decision, but
being poor folk i can only afford to go to
one teacher for leasons, when i can afford to go..
so i would have to say the teacher im using
in that instance had to be the best or i
    wouldnt have gone to him????

I have worked with several instructors. The OAC has a winter program where you hit balls and someone on staff will come by and ask what you are working on. They then watch and then advise, and move on, giving you something more to work on.

That is a fantastic way to "try out" different teachers, and there will always be one that you click with. One that speaks your language. That same teacher may not reach the guy in the next bay, and the pro who only confuses you is his favorite.

That type of school can be very rewarding, cause one pro might see something that the others never mentioned, and you can take the majority of your instruction from your favourite by going when he/she is there and being patient.

Bottom line... Don't sign up for long term lessons with an individual until you are sure you can work with the person. Ya gotta try them out. I doubt there is one "best".
