    Cutting my drivers shaft

    Hi guys,

I have a Ping G10 Driver and I'm having trouble with accuracy. With my old driver I was pretty straight and now I'm all over the place. I'm thinking about cutting my shaft about an inch like my old one. I know it will change my swingweight but I want to know if anybody has already done it.

    Thanks

yep. have done it to all my drivers and play them at 44.5"
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

I have the Taylormade Burner Superfast. It comes stock with a long shaft. I went to Don at Artisan because I was really starting to see a push and pull in my drives. He did an analysis and ended up cutting the shaft to fit my swing. Just a little over an inch if memory serves. Over Christmas and again recently I played in Florida and have noticed a marked improvement in my consistency with no real difference at all in distance. Just wish I had done this sooner....

Did you put leadtape on the head?

I cut my G10 down to 44.5 and found it much better. I did load the head up with lead tape to compensate, but there are other ways to do it too.

You check the length and SW of your previous driver, if you have not already. Once you cut it down to that GT will put it on the SW scale for you for free, then you can add or remove tape on the spot to get to your desired accurate 300 yd screamer down the middle swing weight

FYI, the Trainyards Golftowns swing weight machine is not very accurate and has not been calibrated in years. I would assume most GT's would be the same way.
    Good luck.
I would take it to a certified club fitter with a digital swing weight scale.
    Obviously you're not a golfer.

Food for thought. Before you do all that just grip down on the driver as is and see what gives.

I have already grip down on the club and it was better. My old driver was a Ping Si3 and the shaft was 45" long. I don't know the SW though.

    I would cut mine at 44 3/4".

I went to GT yesterday and it's now cut to 44 3/4". My SW is at D0 and I can't wait to try it.

    Thanks guys for your help!
