My new iron set specs for 2011 season

I am fortunate to live only 4 minutes from the shop of Rey Erickson, one of Canada's most acclaimed clubmakers. Rey just got back from a stint on the PGA tour in the states. We were able to get together today, and finalize the specs on my irons for the 2011 season. I am really pumped up, and look forward to this season with confidence!

My clubs are Maltby Distance Master Pro-Steels, with True Temper Dynamic R-Flex shafts, and Karma Black Velvet Jumbo grips.

My set consists of 8 irons: 5,6,7,8,9,PW,GW,SW.

The lengths range from 36.5" for the 5-iron, to 34" for the 3 wedges.

    My lofts are 28*,32*,36*,40*,44*,48*,53*,58*.

My lies range from 60 degrees for the 5-iron, to 65 degrees for the 3 wedges. Because my shafts are 1.5 inches shorter than standard, I think the effective lie is 3 degrees flatter than the specs would indicate.

    My static weights in grams are 469, 477, 485, 493, 501, 509, 517, 525.

I am 64, started playing golf in 1956. I have battled a severe hook from day one. This is the logic behind the jumbo grips, flat lies, and heavy weights. My best score in Canada is 89 from the blues at Maple Ridge in Calgary. (6204 yds, 68.8/115) My goal for this season is to shoot 79.

Only 5'8". I have always played women's length...and back in the day when I broke 80 on a regular basis, men's standard was 37 1/2" for the 5-iron.

I just think 34 inches is really short for wedges but I don't know anything about your set up and posture and arm length etc..

This set is a test laboratory. I am going to play at least 5 rounds with them, before assembling my new set of Acer XK Pro heads, with FST 125 shafts. I may very well go a little longer, and not quite so flat.

My wrist-to-floor is only 28". I play from a pretty deep crouch, and my swing is very short and fast.
