    Nike Ignite 2 Irons

I was wondering if anyone has played these Nike Ignite 2 irons that Golf Town has on sale for $300.00. I know they are a re-development of an earlier nike iron (not sure which one) done so for the big box golf stores (Dicks, Golf Town). I was looking at them at Golf Town the other day and in terms of feel (weight, head size) and without having actually hit them, they seem pretty similar to the VR cavity backs. Granted the VR cavity backs look much cooler, but for $300 they might be a cheap upgrade for me (technology wise) as I am looking to move on from my Titliest DCI 962s without breaking the bank.

I am a 7 handicap, who regularily works the ball in both directions (not always with success) so I am not looking for a major game improvement iron, but also not looking for a blade. If anyone has any other ideas on a good club out there around the same price point I am all ears.

Golfwrx info on Nike ignite 2 irons

Here is a cut and paste from a search at Golfwrx. sounds pretty good.

    Hope it helps
    Rusty

I work at a Golf Town in Canada and these are a re-branded SMU ( special make-up unit ) for big box retailers like Golf Galaxy and Golf Town in canada,

Just like many SMU products that came before they are based off of an older model and in this case its a re-branded cci cast but without the cut outs in the sole of the club and designed with a slightly thinner profile in general. to be honest for the money its probably pretty hard the find a better set for the money for a mid to lower handicapper.

I play to a 4 and currently use a set of MP-37's but if i was buying a new set and worried about price i would consider these for sure.

After doing some research on these myself, these irons look like they would be pretty good for the price.
The postings on golfwrx.com all sound really positive.
    Obviously you're not a golfer.

Yeah thats what I have been thinking. I am going to go to the Golf town Demo sale this weekend and see what there is as well, but for the price these Nike's sound pretty decent. Everything I have read on them is positive, but you never know who is doing the reviews. Hitting them will give me a better (the best) idea of whether or not they are worth it.

It all comes down to how they feel to you.
Good luck and let us know how you do and what you finally pick.
    Obviously you're not a golfer.

I ended up getting the Nike Irons on Saturday morning. I was there for opening of the Demo sale and didn't see anything that interested me, except for some Titliest AP1s, but I wasn't going to pay $675.00 for a 5 - GW used set. Anyways, I hit the Nike's and hit them pretty well, I hit about 20 balls into the simulator and was hitting nice draws about the same distance as Titliest 962s (5 iron about 180 - 185), but with much more consistency and solid contact. however I always find the simulators off, so we will see how they perform for real in the spring. The only issue I had with them was the grip felt really slippery. I am hoping that they just have some residue on them from the plastic wrap, which washes off.

Use sand paper and wash them afterwards.
