These pics show the setup while not being used on the chimney side, and the stance mats stacked up under the projector next to my door into the house.
Hope you enjoyed a trip to ghetto garage simulator town.Last edited by goatbarn; 01-04-2013 at 11:52 AM.

Don't know why, but for some reason all but my first post with pics shows up in the thread. All others are shown as clickable attachments.
Hope it's not like that for everyone else.
UPDATE: Fixed it, apparently you can't add pictures to multiple posts from the same attachment manager window.Last edited by goatbarn; 01-04-2013 at 12:25 PM.

I was laughing when I first read your title, until I saw ABS and not the other word.

Good to know there are others out there with setups that wouldn't be chosen for Golf Simulation Monthly.
They're ugly, but they work.

Very Cool setup
I like your ball device......did you invent that? I also was inspired by your lamp position so just for grins I placed a similar (halogen) light on my DD and the results were very interesting. My clubs tracked better and much longer than with flourescent ambient light. The only downside is I have guests that are both L/R so moving it is not acceptable.

It seems like a continuing work in progress but I am addicted to indoor golf. Me and the boys did 16 hours straight on a stormy blizzard in Montreal !! After many lighting changes I put a small spot over the sensors and have very reliable results and I can see the ball well. My Abs pipes can hold up to 210 balls !

Also the ball dispenser is called "Teedup" I found a used one on ebay for 35 bucks and totally customized and reinforced it. It is made of cheap plastic and needs many changes but after doing them and adding some abs pipes, it works great.

Yes, we garage folks have to be creative to get our golf play. Great jobs guys. Goatbarn, we have the same basic setup. Only difference is I slide my curtains out of the way when not playing.

The Golf Room
Here is where I have applied the many ideas I have gotten from this forum over the last couple of years: Foresight GC2, Alienware laptop, Epson 705HD, Country Club Elite mat, PR-20 screen, 1/8" steel cable into turnbuckles into eyebolts, foambymail.com polyethylene panels on the ceiling and 4' x 8' insulation panels from Lowes against the walls. The GC2 is brought to the correct height by phone books. They were the only reasonably priced part of the project.
There are mattresses behind the screen and the room can be turned into a guest bedroom in 15 minutes. That is how I got permission to build it. I use it almost every day. I am still terrible at golf.

The foambymail panels - 1/2" medium density polyethylene held up with lots and lots of adhesive. You can see them in the shot of the projector.

They know to look for the green light but not the computer stuff. They also occasionally hit further and straighter than I do. Unfortunately all I can get them interested in on the course is driving the cart. Actually, I also find that the most satisfying part of golf myself!

First off I want to thank everyone who has contributed on this forum for Home Sims, all the info here was what inspired me to take on a home sim project in my basement. After reading many, many posts over the past couple on months, I took the plunge and have the following setup in the basement.
1. Sim: Optishot
2. Projector: Optoma GT750E
3. Screen: HQ Raw from Cory
4. Mats: Fiberbuilt for stance mats and an aftermarket optishot top from allturfmats.com
5. Cage: Built out of 1.5" ABS pipe, fully lined with netting ordered from ebay and surrounded on outside with black-out tarps.
I think that covers it. Just got this operational this week so still in the honeymoon phase with adjusting the optishot etc. So far so good. Ceiling is 8'10" and I'm able to take a full swing with a driver (I'm 6'1") and hit real balls which is a bonus.
Was originally just going to put something in the basement to keep the swing loose during the winter and hit balls, but this sim business is a slippery slope!!!
Cheers for all the posts and info!

I am using the GC2 with the Creative Golf 3D software, TrueStrike mat, Panasonic PT-AE8000 projector and the HQ Screen with custom net from PartoPro. I had to dig out my basement a little to add some height and I built a wall to reduce the noice. I also put in grey carpeting and made the ceiling black. There is a 10 foot long wedge pillow at the front of the pit to prevent ball bounce back on low shots. I still have to build a riser for the back row of theater seating.
