    Question ...and putt for dough

    What's in your bag?

Odyssey and Ping are big on tour, and big around town. What's your putter? Did you have it custom fit? Did it make a difference?

Just bought an off the rack Mizuno T.P. Mills #3. It is a grain-forged, hand milled thing of beauty. Expensive but the confidence factor alone is saving me 3-4 strokes per round. Standing over the putt and actually thinking that you WILL make it is more then half the battle.

    geeez....

...is it ever hard to get an opinion around here. Over 40 lookers and only 2 responses???? I can't believe all these people don't have putters!?!?!?!

Excuse me people, but if you don't have a putter, nor an opinion on golf equipment, then what the h_ll are you doing in a forum on golf equipment????

btw.... over 100 people looked in on driving distance, and only 10 people answered the poll so far??? Hey, Dan, perhaps you should put up a set of ladies' tees here in the forum?

In my bags: (I have two identical sets)

Driver: TaylorMade titanium head TaylorMade graphite shaft
2 Wood: Callaway S2H2 steel head Aldila RCH60 graphite shaft
Irons: Spalding cold forged cavity back with Apollo Balistik steel seemless stepless shafts
    Sand Wedge: Tour Edition
Lob Wedge: Cleveland 588 (swingweight D-8)
Putter: Titleist Bulls Eye (shaft jam-packed with granulated sugar)

Grips: Golf Pride Tour Velvet 3/64" oversize
    Swingweights: D-5
CPM numbers are dynamic shaft frequency in cycles per minute
    Code:
    Driver: 45.5" 9.5° loft 55° lie 266 CPM
    2W : 43.5" 13° loft 55.5° lie 269 CPM
    2 Iron: 39.5" 19° loft 57° lie 292 CPM
    3 Iron: 39" 22° loft 60° lie 296 CPM
    4 Iron: 38.5" 25° loft 61° lie 300 CPM
    5 Iron: 38" 28° loft 62° lie 304 CPM
    6 Iron: 37.5" 32° loft 63° lie 308 CPM
    7 Iron: 37" 36° loft 64° lie 313 CPM
    8 Iron: 36.5" 40° loft 65° lie 317 CPM
    9 Iron: 36" 44° loft 66° lie 321 CPM
    PW : 36" 49° loft 66° lie 320 CPM
    SW : 35.5" 54° loft 66° lie 320 CPM
    LW : 34.5" 60° loft 60° lie 343 CPM
    Putter: 33" 4° loft 71° lie N/A
My longest drive during a round on a measured hole was 319. My average drive is SIGNIFICANTLY less. Around 240.

My handicap was reduced from 12 to 4 after this complete custom refit, so the shaft difference was signicant in my case.

The re-shafting was the main purpose of the complete customization, so I guess this also speaks to spidey's "what's all the rukus about shafts????" post.

    For "sweet" putts, of course.

Seriously, the Titleist Bulls Eye putter is very light. The sugar adds weight to the club uniformly over the whole distance of the shaft as opposed to globing lead tape on the head.

Sand and lead powder made the club too heavy. Salt will rust the shaft.

Just bought a Taylor Made "Nubbins" putter, great price at $150.
I really like it, and very glad i bought this one. The little "nubbins" on it take a bit of time to get use to, but i feel its really making a diffrence with my putting.
As for the rest in my bag:

Taylor Made Supersteel Burners: Rifle precision R-80's irons.

and thanks to this board i just picked up 2 woods:
Taylor Made 5 Wood Ti Bubble 2: Apollo shaft
Taylor Made 3 Wood Raylor Titanium w/ apollo shaft and currently using it as my driver.

Also trying something new " Flex Tees" as seen here : http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI...tem=1167105918

Have only used them once, but its a great concept for those of us who can never seem to tee the ball up proper.

As for balls, i use Taylor Made Pro's and Pro distance. Reasoning for this is mainly because Chuck Brown's was clearing them out and had them from $56.00 down to $22.00, so i bought many boxes of them.

Just realizing all my Taylor Made stuff, geeze they should sponser me , but they if you like it, you should stick with it.

Okay, I'll grab this ring. It started with putters, but since we're in the bag:

Callaway GBB Driver 10* with Grafalloy Prolite 3.5 S
Callaway BB warbird 3 wood Grafalloy Prolite 3.5 S
McHenry Metals Tour Pure 21* 7 wood TTDG S300
**all above re-shafted to my specs**

1992 Ben Hogan Apex Forged Irons 3-E w/Apex 3 shafts. A bit soft in the shaft, but I'm a low-ball player so the flex helps my long irons fly. These were purchased NEW in 2000 from someone's attic in England, for $400.00
    :

Cleveland 588 RTG 56* SW, 60* LW. Both have had the bounce ground off about 50% by me. A must to play touchy shots around the green. TTDG S shafts.

Wilson Forged 8802 putter, bent upright and loft 4*. This putter is punishing when you don't hit it right. Therefore, I must hit it sweet or I'm dead. The ultimate game improvement club. Somedays I really would like a big, heel-toe weighted putter when I don't have a chance to get my stroke together before the round.

Cobra Irons CXi 3-pw Love them. Some don't I know but they work for me.

Cleveland 588 56 Degree SW No bounce mods (Nice and Rusty)
Cleveland 588 60 degree LW No bounce mods

    Currently testing new drivers.

Callaway VFT Stiff 9 degress - 5 out of 10 Great long Drives and long misses too!
Wilson Deep Red 10 degress stiff - 8 out of 10 accurate
Taylor Made 320 firm shaft 10 degrees. Balloon ball flight but straight and loooooooooooong.

    Anyone selling a driver?

Putter Wilson Black Jack. Hate it! Funny offset. Looking for a 34 inch White Hot #2 for a good deal.

    Gary....

If you're down to a 4.... then why don't we see your name on the list of competitors at the Ottawa Citizen Amateur Golf Championship?

    Talking mandatory....?

Well, of course it's not mandatory, but I would think it would be desirable.

I would have cheered for you.

I'm assuming this means you didn't covet the trophy....

Not at all. I would love to win it.

Back problems have prevented me from playing lately and I probably couldn't break 100 at the moment.

    re: recovery

    Condolences, Gary...

Hope you recover quickly, and get back down to a 4. Perhaps at that point we can get a game up. Perhaps you can then remind me about all the rules that I indolently ignore while I play.

btw... does OttawaGolf.com's Club have a championship? Can members record their handicaps?

    Thumbs up

I have recovered, but getting back down to a 4 is another matter.

I never "remind" my playing companions of the Rules, but I will answer their questions.

OttawaGolf is trying to get official club status for next year so we can keep official handicap scores. Stay tuned!

Ass for the smilies... They are coming.
For now, Gary is linking to his own collection (he is a keener)

I have a set of new smilies to install on the board (some from Gary) but lately I have been busy, and I did not consider it a top priority. I will increase it's priority level for you They will be available soon.
