Where's Tiger at the BCO?
Not sure if this was previously discussed...
Why isn't Tiger in the field? Some of the other Ryder Cup players are doing both.
Maybe its only a "major" for us Canadians, I thought it was a big tourney that the top players wanted to be part of.

I think the last cut Tiger missed was at the 1997 Canadian Open in Montreal. He is too scared to come up here and play the game he has now.

Isnt it also his ONLY missed cut as a pro??I've spent most of my life golfing .... the rest I've just wasted"

I think at year 2000 Tiger won Bell Canadian Open at Glen Abby in Toronto defeating Grant Whaite in a pllay off which is one of golf channels classic golf shows.

You're right he did. Tiger never plays the week before a major and the ryder cup is considered a major.

Another factor at work is a lot of players scale back on their schedules after Labour Day - family commitments such as school (Nicklaus in his later years rarely played after 1SEP because he wanted to watch his kids play high school football, etc; Norman has did the same when he got into his 40s); most of the guys in the upper echelons (top 20 or so) of the money list have already secured a spot in the Tour Championship so they don't need to play; the guys in the middle of the pack have secured their top 125 positions for next year's exemptions. The only guys grinding it out in the fall are in the 100-125 spots or lower on the money list or guys like Singh/Mickelson/etc who are playing for the money title, player of the year, etc.
Add it all up and it results in a loss of glamour for the CDN Open. Although occasionally it has a resurgence and gets a good field such as this year.

You're right on the mark. It is too bad though. :cryin
Back in those days they used to call the The Canadian open the fifth major. Too bad it's all about money now. :shakeI've spent most of my life golfing .... the rest I've just wasted"

Actually Lee Trevino was the only golfer who had won the 3 opens in the same year. British, Us , and Canadian, Untill Tiger did it again in year 2000 won all 3 of them. Too bad he is not playing in Canadian open, I may just dump him for that reason alone.

RE. the 2000 Event, I'm pretty sure Tiger's miracle shot was on the 72nd hole of the tournament & not in a playoff. Doesn't make it any less impressive but I sort-of-thought his biggest fan knew just about everything about Eldrick????
