European Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie selected Padraig Harrington, Luke Donald and Edoardo Molinari to round out his team on Sunday.

Can't go wrong with any of those choices. Ed and Frank can play together, lots of experience there!

Not sure how you take Harrington over Casey. Harrington has one point in Ryder Cup play while Casey is 9th in the world and a bulldog.

you have to feel a little sorry for Rose who's had a great year, and Casey who is an excellent match play player. However, Europe has assembled a great team and I can't wait....I love the Ryder Cup. Before I got into golf a couple of years back the Open and the Ryder Cup were the only golf I ever used to watch

who on earth told you Harrington has only earned one Ryder cup point?
His record is not stella, but he has played in 5 Ryder Cups and he certainly has more than 1 point

It's an embarrassment of riches for the Europeans. Can't make a bad choice in their top 20.

I would have picked either Rose or, better yet, Casey, before Donald, but the latter is no slouch either.

Donald played amazingly well on the front nine today and his back nine slump started exactly after Monty's announcement....guess he had his smartphone with him and relaxed somewhat after the good news

The Euro point system is severely flawed, when you have Peter Hanson as an automatic qualifier against Rose and Casey, who needed to be picked. Not only does it weaken the Euro squad (which, admittedly, is REALLY deep), but it also deprives the fans of seeing some of the best players in the world.

The Euro point system isn't flawed... it is what it is. All of the players knew what the criteria were 2 years ago and had all of that time to play themselves onto the team. As I see it, they could either play really well anywhere in the world (World Points List), or play really well on the European Tour and earn lost of money there (European Ryder Cup Points List). Hanson was rewarded for winning twice on the European Tour this year. Casey was punished for not playing enough (and well enough) on the European Tour.
