    Iron Shaft Length

This is just a thought wanted to see what you guys think! I stand 6"6 and play my irons at a half inch over standard. I feel completely comfortable over my Driver/Hybrid/4/5/6/7/8 but once i'm down to 9-Wedges they just feel too short to me. I contemplated reshafting my 9-LW at the same length as my 8 iron with X100's. Any opinions on trying this?

Not unheard of but the flex/feel might be off since the head weights are different and the lie angles will need adjusting.

Something else that you can do is to change the length increment between clubs. The normal difference is 1/2" between each club with the wedges all the same length.

If you make your wedges longer so that you are comfortable with them you can increase the length for the subsequent clubs by 0.4" so that your longer clubs are not too long but you still get a progression.
Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

What you propose is the essence of a TLT set, where the short irons/wedges are generally longer than standard and the long irons are shorter than standard:

IMHO this type of fitting is of even greater benefit to tall golfers like yourself.

Ditto. You're a tall player. Try the link above. If you love golf - with your height - TLT is the way to go. I like the set up very much.

It's certainly an interesting concept, i'll have to call Al's Clubhouse and see what it will run me if I decide to try it over the winter.

Peice of mind is priceless, tho.

I went TLT and will never look back. My 3 iron is back in the bag and my iron game is the best it's been in my whole life.

How much does buying a game set you back when being properly fit once can save you all of that? Pennies on the dollar.

Who did you have do it Rockford? I spoke to Al and he didn't seem like a believer in the idea at all. Had me rethinking it.

I have all the TLT charts. But why don't you just have one extended and see what gives?

Frankly I was not impressed with Al's understanding of it, and I ended up having the Chief redo them all. If there is nobody else in Ottawa to do the fitting, I would either take them directly to Dan (he's just outside Peterborough) or do the online fitting and then get the Chief to build them.

Get your charts and send them to Chief. I've had a lot of questions this season and Chief's been able to answer them all. Complete confidence.
