Shot a pesonal best - I am stupid!
I played Renfrew today and from the get go felt great with everything. When I hit a bad shot/iron/chip I made up for it. Went to 17 (#8 since I played in reverse order) thinking I needed birdie par to break 80.
Hit a great drive, hit my second fat and got on the green in regulation. I thought I needed a birdie so I hot a firm putt that hit the hole and went 7 feet past. Did not make the comebacker. I made a bogey.
Went to 18 thinking I had lost my chance to break 80 for the first time. So I was disinterested and made a double. Had what I thought was 82.
Then I added up my score and forgot that I birdied 8 (#17). I had put down a par. So I shot an 81 for a PB.
But I didn't need to put pressure on myself the last 2 holes. All I needed was par par and I would have broken 80.
I am happy with the score, spcially considering I played with new irons (09 Tour Preferred), which I had not tested out on the range before. But I have found yet another way to sabotage myself and keepo from breaking the freaking 80 barrier.
Nonetheless, the cap fell 0.7 and I am down to an all time low of 13.5Proud member of the 2009 Ryder Cup winning team

Great round Rez!
I'll be sure not to play you any more matches since I won the last one and would now be giving you 4 strokes . . .
I almost did this to myself at Cartier about a month ago. After back to back birdies on 13 and 14 (par 5s) I noticed that all I had to do was bogey out for a 79.
Bogey, Double, Bogey and I finally bear down and par 18 to save a 79.
I think this is where the "what's in a number" thread comes into play. Gotta keep your mind off the numbers when you're on the course.Even I've never heard of me

Adam, it turns out my HDCP was a full 2.0 higher that I thought it was when we played. OG handicap system does not calculate 9 hole scores well.. But you enjoy that win buddy!
I do have a big problem with my head getting in the way of my swing. And for the most part it was not interfering today until I decided to see what I needed to do.

Ya I'm pretty sure it just ignores 9 hole scores for some reason. I have had a couple in there before and not seen them have any effect.
If you're dying for a re-match though I'll happily oblige. My PB at Renfrew is an 80 and I've only played there one time .
Good job on the round again and I'm sure you'll get in the 70s soon with all the improvements.Even I've never heard of me

Congrats Reza, great round. I find it hard to believe you haven't broken 80 though, it won't be long.

9 hole rounds are combined with your next 9 hole round and indicated with a "C" for combined on your handicap card. If you don't play another 9 hole round within your last 20 rounds it is discarded. This is as it should be according to the rules of handicapping.
Are you experiencing something dfferent?

Thanks Dave.
Dan, I only had one 9 hole score in my handicap card and it wS something like a 41, but as soon as it fell out of my last 20 my cap went up 2.0 points!
The system used it and took it as an exceptional round. I thnk Gropper had the same issue.Proud member of the 2009 Ryder Cup winning team

Don't you use an iPhone to add up your scores?

Don't add them up until you're finished is the best way not to think about score. Playing the Gatineau is a good example since the first tee off is on 15. So you got to play one hole at a time and can't say Ok I shot whatever on the front nine

Hit good shots, the results will take care of themselves.
