Golf Canada 4some Auctions - private clubs included
I just noticed this, Golf Canada has auctions for rounds at almost every nice course including private ones in Canada on eBay. Proceeds go to support Team Canada.
http://members.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI....-canada#search
Every private club in Ottawa area is there, current bids include:
Royal Ottawa - $405
Hunt Club - $446
Rideauview - $226
Rivermead - $325
Camelot - $305
Eagle Creek - $205
There are lots of great courses across Canada such as Capilano, Royal Montreal, Shaughnessy etc
There are some restrictions, they seem to differ with each course.
Great opportunity to get on courses you normally can't, for what seems to be right now reasonable prices although the auctions aren't over yet.
Some of these end tomorrow, others span over the next 6 days. There are so many auctions there are bound to be some deals.
I have no affiliation with Golf Canada nor the auction house, I just noticed it myself so thought others may be interested.

It would be unfortunate to have someone miss out on an opportunity to bid on something or for Golf Canada to get shortchanged on what they could have raised. Hopefully you win your bid at a price you are happy with, otherwise let the free market reign.

Very Cool idea...I am surprised as well that there isn't more advertising about this.

Im sure this wasn't strategic, but you left Kanata G&CC off your list of Ottawa courses... its at 180, and has 4 days left...
and hautes plaines too... 150, 4 days left....
basically if you are intersted go look at the link.
Thanks for the info BTWLast edited by leftygolfguy; 07-30-2010 at 11:37 AM. Reason: added more stuff

I think you did, So I will continue the clarification.
The courses you mentioned are Semi-Private, open to the PUBLIC provided they have a chequebook. The courses mentioned by the OP are fully PRIVATE golf courses that you cannot walk up to and just buy a membership by writing a cheque.
You'll probably find that the prices are so low at the courses you mentioned since no one would pay a seasons worth of ClubLink dues to play a course once. If you really want to play these I'd suggest getting a CL membership for the cost of a few guest fees.
Fairways and Greens!

Sorry Par72, but you totally lost me.
A Semi-Private course has both members and books Green Fee players. That is not the case at Clublnk. What on earth are you trying to say?Life dinnae come wit gimmies so yuv got nae chance o' gitt'n any from me.

Here's what the winning bids were for the Ottawa area courses. I may have missed a few. Did anyone on here end up winning an auction? Seems like a great fundraiser for Golf Canada and really no big deal for the clubs to give up one 4-some. Highest bids were at Royal Montreal and Capilano, no surprises there.
Royal Ottawa - $493
Hunt Club - $466
Rideauview - $243
Marshes - $322
Rivermead - $330
Camelot - $418
Eagle Creek - $380
Predator - $182
Talon - $184
Kanata - $202
Hautes Plaines - $207
I think this represents relatively well where the courses rank. My top 4 in the region include Hunt, Royal, Camelot and Eagle which I think would have fetched a higher bid if it wasn't public until just a few years ago. Someone got a great deal for Rideauview. I have never thought too highly of the Greyhawk courses, I don't think they are even top 10 in Ottawa and the auction results are an interesting data point that seems to support that my opinion is shared by others.

I won Talon for $184 which is think is good value for that course (=$46 per green fee).
I was bidding for Haute plaine, but didn't get it (my max bid was $201).
Rideauview went low because the green fees could only be used on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

I can try to take you out as a guest at the Hunt. Can't do it until September though as I'm away the next 3 weeks and I have a pretty hectic schedule, but hopefully we can find a date. PM me with an e-mail address.
