    Training Clubs

    I have a question about using training aids during a round.

    Is a player allowed to use training devises, (like a weight on the end of a club), in between holes to stretch out and get better rhythm and tempo?

    How about training clubs like the Medicus (hinged 5 iron). While not intended for play, this club can hit a ball in a pinch. Would this training device be counted as a club?

    1) As long as you don't injure any of the gallery following you!!

    2) It would be a club, so if you're in a lot of officially sanctioned events leave it at home. However, if you need a Medicus between shots, you may be playing a little over your head

    Rule 4-1. Form and Make of Clubs a. General
    The player’s clubs must conform with this Rule and the provisions, specifications and interpretations set forth in Appendix II.

    Having a "Medicus" club in your bag results in disqualifiication.

    Rule 14-3. Artificial Devices and Unusual Equipment
    Except as provided in the Rules, during a stipulated round the player must not use any artificial device or unusual equipment:
    a. That might assist him in making a stroke or in his play;

    Taking a practice swing with a weighted "doughnut" attached results in disqualifiication.
