2010 NFL Season Thread
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, can you feel it???? Nothing like the smell of NFL training camp in the morning!!!!!!!!!!!
My early pre-season predictions:
AFC East:
1. Miami Dolphins - This year marks the start of the Henne/Sanchez rivalry, the Jets and 'phins will be 1-2 in this division for a decade.
2. New York Jets - See above
3. New England Patriots - Brady and company have a good season, but the fans have been spoiled and the Belli-Brady countdown starts.
4. Buffalo Bills - Drafted one of the best players in college football, but he won't help this dismal franchise. Seems like a century since they competed.
AFC North
1. Baltimore Ravens - The addition of Q is an awesome one. Rice/Q/Flacco = formidable.
2. Cincy Bengals - Not so much a vote of confidence for the Bengals, but Pittsburgh is on its way down and Cleveland, well, is Cleveland.
3. Pittsburgh - Extending Tomlin a great move. Keeping Ben when the Raiders would have taken him, a bad decision.
4. Cleveland - Jake the Snake, retirement buddy. They have the foundation to build though, wait three years.
AFC South
1. Indianapolis - Peyton.
2. Houston - Might get to the 10 wins if Matt stays healthy.
3. Tennessee - Vince Young will be the surprise of the year.
4. Jacksonville - I'll miss Jack Del Rio.
AFC West
1. San Diego Chargers - Rivers is a top 3 QB, and even if they lose Vincent they're deep enough to thrive.
2. Denver Broncos - No one else from this division makes the playoffs.
3. Oakland Raiders - Jason Campbell gives them 6 to 8 wins!!!
4. Kansas City Chiefs - Matt Cassell, overrated.
NFC North
1. Green Bay Packers - Top to bottom a great team, fantasy and reality!
2. Minnesota - Even if Brett doesn't play, I think that team is good enough for a wildcard.
3. Chicago Bears - Probably the most unpredictable team of 2010.
4. Detroit Lions - The foundation is there, but not this year.
NFC East
1. Dallas Cowboys - Will be VERY motivated to play a home Super Bowl.
2. Washington Redskins - McNabb a great addition.
3. New York Giants - No playoffs this year, and Coughlin is out.
4. Philadelphia Eagles - Philly fans booed him on draft day, so now life without McNabb is realized.
NFC South
1. Atlanta Falcons - Harry Douglas, Michael Turner and Matt Ryan healthy, and the defense MUCH improved.
2. New Orleans Saints - No Super Bowl hangover but no repeat.
3. Carolina Panthers - Loved the Claussen pick, get him in there asap.
4. Tampa Bay Bucs - It's the 70's and 80's all over again.
NFC West
1. San Francisco 49ers - Alex Smith finally lives up to his draft choice.
2. Seattle Seahawks - Matt Hasselbeck, comeback player of the year.
3. Arizona Cardinals - Losing a hall of fame QB never easy.
4. St Louis Rams - Good thing he's going to get all that money, because that QB is going to get destroyed this year.Donny Vantage NFL Guru, since 1974

Can't argue much with your choices. I like the Cardinals a bit more than you, and the Eagles and Titans too. I think Atlanta might be a juggernaut this year. Ravens D is looking real old to me.

Coach Wiz might try and mold the Cards into a Pittsburgh run first type, but they don't have the defense. Losing two major offensive weapons is huge.
Eagles, I say 7-9, really tough division there. I don't think Kolb is a top 15 QB personally. We'll see.
Titans, again a tough division. Houston is doing everything right and they're due to take that leap. Indy is the model franchise and another 11-13 win season is a guarantee (healthy of course).
I'm really excited for Atlanta. I think 12-4 is a real possibility and an NFC Championship game against Dallas is coming.Donny Vantage NFL Guru, since 1974

I dont follow the offseason like you, so my predictions are based on how last year ended, and the little bits of news I've read online regarding free agents and the draft.
=--===-==--=-==--==------
Pats - NFL is still a passing league, Brady will be better than last year. That young defense is 1 year more experienced, they will be better too.
Jets - loaded on both sides of the ball, but i think the media annointing them paper champions will go to their heads, every loss the end of the world in NY. they dont have chemistry yet.
Dolphins - (i'm a phins fan) - no name defense is solid, running game is good, but i dont see the Phins putting points on the board even with Marshall. Hope I'm wrong. 10-6 season.
Bills - they stink
Ravens - Best team in the division, good coach too.
Steelers - Defense is getting old, they'll struggle without Ben for the first few games.
Bengals - They don't pass the ball well enough. They'll win 9 games though.
Browns - they stink
Colts - Peyton.
Titans - (no 0-6 start this year), Young + Johnson + healthy defense, watch out.
Texans - They don't know how to close games. If they did they'd be in the playoffs.
Jaguars - They need a new coach, Del Rio has lost this team.
Bolts - Most talented team in the AFC.
Broncos - Josh McDaniels is trying to use the Patiots formula to run the Broncos, and it's not working.
Chiefs - They stink.
Raiders - They stink.
Cowboys - I think Romo will mature and lead this team to the Superbowl, which is in Dallas this year.
Giants - They'll improve on the 8-8 record of last year.
Eagles - Reid gets the most out of his players
Skins - The culture of losing continues.
Packers - Rogers finally beats old man Favre.
Vikings - With or without Favre, I think they will have a winning record.
Bears - Cutler has no receivers, fail.
Lions - They stink.
Saints - Juggernaut offense rolls on, 13-3 record.
Falcons - I know they're your team Donny, but come on, no way they win more games than the Saints!
Panthers - Give Steve Smith the damn ball~!
Bucs - They stink.
49ers, Seahawks, Cardinals - don't know who wins, they're all average teams going nowhere come playoff time.
Rams - Move to L.A. already! You only get out of something what you put into it

I have 3 things different then you.
1) The Broncos are going to finish last place over all...I think they will be lucky to win 3 games total.....The Chiefs and Raiders will have at least 2 more wins each then Denver.
2) Indy and Houston will be very close....I don't hold Peyton in the same regard as most people....If Houston gets the running game going....which they should with Arian Foster coming around at the end of the season and Slaton possibly not being injured and returning to his Rookie year form, I believe they will have the same win total as Indy, and beating Indy will put Houston top of the division.
3) I'm also not to sure about the Falcons having a better record than the Saints either. Although I think the Falcons have a better D then the Saints.....Brees and company throwing 8000 yards a game gives them the edge for wins.

I hope that your prediction for Sam Bradford is wrong. Since the season hasn't started yet, I can have a bit of faith for my poor Rams.
Go Rams Go! Let's try for multiple wins this year! hehe

T.O. to the Bengals? I've got my popcorn ready.

The bengals should definetly be improved now that they have a 2nd threat in T.O. Yes he has his issues....but he should help Ochocinco get more looks this year. I'd have them moved up to within a game or so of the Ravens...Waaaayyy better then the Steelers and Browns

It's been this way for 10 years....it's the same for all pro sports except hockey....but with the new CBA coming in the next year or so...they are hoping to hammer out a rookie salary cap so the Ryan Leafs and Jamarcus Russels of the world don't take too much advantage. Its ridiculous that they can enter the draft....and then hold out for stupid money...with the threat that they will just go back to school and re-enter the draft next year until they get their money they think their worth. What Eli Manning did should never have been allowed. "I will never take a snap for San Diego"
Number 1...is he crazy...why play in New York when you can live in San Diego?
Number 2...who the hell is he to hold an NFL team hostage right out of college?
I know that the careers are short for them, but they and the agents shouldn't have this much power.
This crap should never be allowed. Its the only thing I hate about Pro sports.

Wow, back several years ago Seattle lost the super bowl because of the refs. Now the refs have apologized!!!!!!!!!!! I think Matt Hasselbeck is awesome, he's always been one of my favourite QBs, he deserved that ring.

I've been trying to get into this NFL pool for 10 years with my cousin and his friends... finally, i'm in and haven't kept upto date on all the players. I'm gonna need some serious help. You do a live draft, play a different team every week. I don't want to finish last lol
