That is a great price!! If you check further on the Website for Golf GPS most are not available in their stores but can be shipped to a nearby store.

If it's like the Neo, you don't hav eto have the subscription, you can map your own courses. The easiest way is to pay the $35, download your 100 courses and then you are done. You don't need the subscription to run the unit.

so if i don't want to map my own courses, I can pay $35 once, get my 100 courses and then be done? If I want more courses at a later date then I would need to pay the $35 again?

That's it. The courses don't expire and if the golf course changes, like the Meadow's South did a couple of years ago, all you do is re-map that hole.

The software allows you to move courses on and off of the device

Caveat - I am basing this on my Bushnell NEO experience, however it uses iGolf also for the courses (Bushnell bought the iGolf GPS hardware group)
