Idea on when to get a coach

I just start golf the summer and would like to improve my skills. Just for fun and not as pro. I've been going to the driving range like once a week. I would like to get a coach to help improve my golfing skills. Is it better to wait until I'm good at golf but my friend said I should get one right now cause the coach will correct any bad techniques that I might have right off the bat. any ideas??

You're probably better off just going for lessons at one of the many accredited places across the Ottawa area. I think that's what you meant, anyways

I'd recommend Kevin Haime's myself. Been there for 3 or 4 lessons and it's always very helpful.

Yea, get some lessons (perhaps 3 1/2-hour lessons) at Haimes. A lot of people here will recommend Gregg Foley. I took lessons with him too, he'll use those 3 lessons to go over each part of your game, take some videos, show you what you're doing wrong, and drills to fix it. Your game will improve very quickly.

I was in the same position about 3 years ago. I decided to go and get them right away. The way I see it, if your going to get a series of lessons then go and get them right away but if your looking for just one lesson I'd wait and figure out some things yourself because the information you will be getting will be overwhelming. I took a set of three and found it was a lot of information at once... But I keep looking back and remembering now why it is done a certain way
