    RIP George Steinbrenner

It has been reported by CNN died of a massive heart attack... Some people love him and some hated him but I think Steinbrenner was good for baseball...

He certainly brought a dismal club to stardom again. Being a Mets fan I personally hate the Yankees and everything they stand for, but George was definitely a good owner. Apparently he bought the club for 10 mill and now its worth approximately 2.1 bill. Not too shabby...it's been rough for yankee fans lately with their old announcer passing away as well.

The kind of owner every fan would love to have running their team.

Pretty strange, two days after Bob Sheppard...
When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.

Actually he bought them for 8,7 mill ... the other 1,3 mill was for 2 parking lots beside the stadium...

At first he was an awful owner... fired people left and right... he was suspended for life by MLB in the early '90's and when it was announce at the game the spectator have a 90 sec. standing ovation... he was reinstated in '93...

When he came back he had learn his lesson and seem to be a lot better... there was never a dull moment with George around

i love owners like him, Cuban, Jerry Jones... they are willing to spend and are passionate about the game and don't my paying to win. Sure they could spend a bit less and less out all the games and still much a bundle but they are passionate about their respective sports and want to house a champion

RIP, hopefully whoever gets the team doesn't rip it appart for the money

From what I've read, his sons have been in control of the team since 2007, so I would assume that they would continue to do so...

I heard today on Sirius Radio that he actually only ponyed up $160, 000 of his own money in the original purchase. Unbeleivable......I wonder if I could do the same with the lowly Buffalo Bills?
