    Tiger switching putters

    Finally happening, he confirmed it in a news conference this morning. Going to a Nike Method to counter the slow greens at the British Open.

    His putting has been terrible this year (for his standards anyways). Hopefully he can put something together for this week. If he doesn't, I don't think he makes the cut.
    Ambition is a poor excuse for not having enough sense to be lazy.

    What putter did he use before his Scotty?
    They mention that he has used the Scotty Cameron since 1999.

    He was using a Newport 2 with no insert after the Tei3 and he switched in 2000 part way through his four majors in a row to the one he has been using. The stampings are a bit different and I think the other one may not have been GSS.

    The putters he has won his majors with are a Newport TeI3 for the 97 Masters and the GSS NP2 for the other 13, including the 99 PGA. He used a stainless Ping Anser 2 in between those two, as well as a few other Camerons.

    It's not the putters. Did anyone else notice that almost every putt that he missed on Saturday was right of the cup? Every one of them! That can't be a putter problem or the result of misreading. There's something else wrong. If he doesn't sort that out, Scotty is not going to save him. While he fixing his putting, he'll also have to work on his full strokes as well. At the moment he's striking the ball with the consistency of a very average tour player.
