Any substitute for Blue Away ?

this stuff is expensive. Stainless steel heads blue the most. Ping and Accuform are the worst for me. I was thinking of mixing up a bit of comet and water as a paste and using that.

Has anyone found any good substitutes for blue away ?

    thanks

Steel wood soap pad. You can also get blue away for a decent price at your local CDN tire.(Blue Magic for exhaust pipes) Other stuff that works is chome cleaner and Brasso metal polish. Use butane instead of propane

heheh obviously you've never pulled a Ping iron shaft... they demand insane amounts of heat and a head gun will not get 'er done. The older Pings are the worst. You need to torch them until they 'pop'.

I use a powder called * Bar Keepers Friend * and water, seems to work great. This looks much the same as comet. I have used Blue Away but found this just as good and a lot cheaper.

    Buffing Machine

    http://www.caswellplating.com/buffs/buff_machine.htm

I have been using one of these for years. Great investment. You can polish irons and wood soles, gives that added touch for repairs. Got mine on sale for $99. If you decide to buy get a couple of extra 6” sisal wheels and 6” spiral sewn cotton wheels. I do some refinishing and this is great for small scratches and final buffing.
