Yes and no. On one hand we were missing 5 low handicap players would would have made the team, but on the other we had a number of young players with good golf swings but who perhaps lacked some tournament experience that always helps. Some did well and others did not but, regardless, we all learned and did our best, and we get to host next year, hopefully on Legacy.

I managed to get 5 points in the #1 spot, conceding an eagle putt on the last hole to an opponent to have him tie me, and was fortunate to play with 3 other very good players whose etiquette and sportsmanship were superb.

As a team, Copperdale did not play up to our potential. In my four years there, 7 pts is our lowest total by a large margin. We were against some tough teams (Mt Cascades, Hammond and Metcalfe), but I believe our guys just had a hard time with the greens.

Myself, I only managed to eke out one win for 2 pts, but my opponents from Hammond and Mt Cascades played really solid making few mistakes. I was just a bit off, and had my irons been just a bit more accurate the outcome would've been a different story. All in all, had a fantastic day playing with three true gentlemen of the game.

A big thanks to Andy4Par who took on the excruciating role of caddy for me. That poor guy stood by my side all day pushing my tour bag and Clic Gear up all those hills at Cascades. Thanks so much Andy, it was a blast sharing the day with you.

Since for some reason our points did not get put up on OVGA...

We made 51 points with 6 guys taking 6 points. Cedar Glen was second and Royal Papineau third. Papineau will host next year.

Can't remember the exact points for the other 3 teams sorry.

We hosted this year. One of the visiting teams showed no respect. They left the clubhouse as all four teams were about to sit down and have the after competition meal. Good food ended up in the dumpster. One of the players had even brought his own beer and was drinking it on the patio. He refused to return the beer to his car and flipped his hand at the manager. I hate to imagine how they would have acted if they hadn't won the division.

I cannot recall ever having an "after competition" meal. Of course, we were too busy celebrating

Really? I don't ever remember not getting a meal! This year at the Hylands we got Lasagna, Salad and Garlic Bread, The past 2 years at Arnprior we got burgers and fries and were given a meal at Prescott the year before that.

Our team stayed, and I think almost all of the others did as well. Hats off to Hylands for being such a great host.

Do any of the top teams recruit talent and give a deal to them in order to have a strong team

Ummm...I really really doubt it. I joined a top club many years ago, coming over from a different club. There were no "incentives" offered LOL. The reason I switched was that the competition (and the course) at the new club was so much better than anywhere else.

There's a good reason why many young people join Rideau View. The price is pretty darn good, the atmosphere is extremely laid back, and finally the club has an outstanding reputation as a club that has a great junior program and simply many many good players.

True, but not the entire story. Rideau View does pick players across the city. I know of at least four players who began at various clubs and were asked to join Rideau View. I will not post their names on here, but be certain that this does happen. As noted, your points are very true. I was close to joining this club two years ago. The facility is amazing from the clubhouse to pro shop to lockers and practice facility. The course is tough as heck and is likely another reason why the team is so competitive.

I cannot recall ever not getting something after the round as well...until this year at Cedar Glen that is....Who knows why, maybe because they hosted twice in a row...I don't know.

We had no OVGA rep there either (which explains why our division scores are not posted on the site). Not the most organized morning to say the least.

I am on the side of trying to remember when the teams were NOT ever offered a post round meal. after playing intersectionals for the past 9 years for 2 different clubs, we always got at least BBQ type food, and some places served buffet style meals.
