Soccer (Jabulani) ball compared to Golf Balls
I'm starting this new thread here because I believe that OG members are qualified & may provide more valuable insights here.
Here's my contention the soccer ball (Jabulani) used in 2010 World Cup is the Deciding factor. Why? My next question is that should golf balls be standardised & uniformly deployed?
Some other sports do. No?Last edited by golfinteg; 05-05-2011 at 04:08 AM.

I'm not qualified to comment, but I will agree that golf needs 1 ball that everyone uses.
Pro V1's for everyone!!!!You only get out of something what you put into it

I think the key difference is that golf is an individual sport, and football is a team sport. I can't really think of any individual sports where all participants are subject to standardized equipment.

tennis involves at least 2 competing players hitting the same ball, it is not individual in that sense.

For all the complaining there was about the ball, I honestly didn't see any goals where the ball was a factor. No weird knucklers, no strange movement. I think it was more in the players heads than anything. Every major tournament they bring out a new ball, and every tournament everyone complains. Ultimately, I don't think it's had a major effect on play. If you hit it right, it will go where you want it.
I have also played with the Jabulani ball in the last couple months. It does behave slightly differently than other balls, but such is the case with any ball. There is always a feeling out process at the beginning of a game as you get used to the different weight and feel of a ball. The ball did not, in my experience, do anything unusual, or unpredictable.

What does NASA have to say about Jabulani ball being strike ( what we called swing speed) at below or above 70kph?
