Adams Speedline driver
Just got a new Adams driver after trying it out at a demo day. Tried the Callaway and Nike drivers and didn't feel I gained any distance or accuracy over my Wishon that was on it's third season. I tried it on the Bridgestone ball testing machine and was gaining about 16 yds when comparing it to my old one. This to me was significant. Today was the first day on the course with it and was more than impressed after the first hole hacking I did. I was actually getting a bit of a draw on a number of shots and those that have played with me know that's normally not in my bag but it made a few of the dogleg lefts much nicer. I'm sure hoping that this continues.

You ask tough questions. It's a 9.5 loft and an aldila shaft. The old driver was as Wishon 919thi with 9 loft. I'm not sure what shafts.

Gerry, I just picked up a Wishon driver, the same as yours with a stiff shaft and its great.Unfortunatly,Denyse hits it better than I do so she is using it, for now. Its a 10.5 deg. and really flies off the face on pure hits. The Adams must be a cannon to beat that for sure.Looking forward to playing the Legacy with you guys sometime this summer.

Am always helping Gerry look for his ball in the bush on the right and you can imagine how much longer the round takes because, as a rules official, he always takes his 5:00 of searching time. Yesterday we must have shaved an hour off the normal time as this driver has significantly helped keep on the straight and narrow. Definitely longer, much straighter and he actually out drove me a couple of times. I tried the driver on #13 and hit one which was longer than any I had ever hit on that hole. It is really exciting to find something that improves one's game.
If it can be setup, it would be great to play with you and Denyse again.

Damn Lyle I usually take more than 5 minutes looking and can often find lots of balls. I just hope it keeps working well.
Paulio I just got it and as it took 3 weeks to get I'm assuming it's their newest model.

It is the Fast 10 model Geoff. I'd never noticed all the formulas on the sole, weird.

Darn Gerry. You just don't know what you've just done. Youre going to have the whole blocking/slicing poplulation run out and get one. You should get your cut on the sales.
OTOH Do you hit your fairway woods and long irons to the right as well?

When trying it on the Bridgestone tester I gained 4mph clubhead speed over my Wishon which I was also hitting with their machine.

I too am now using a graphite shafted Speedline 10.5 degree driver. It's last year's model, which I purchased for $140. I am 15 yards longer with it than my old Titleist 983K. The launch angle is high so the ball is long even when the fairways are wet and slow. The 983K is still in the trunk, though. I use that when it is especially windy and I want to keep my drives lower than I would with the Speedline. I've found it easier to lower the trajectory of the shot with the Titleist than with the Speedline. All in all, it's a great club for a very reasonable price.

Les the gain in my opinion was due to a 4mph clubhead speed increase. This was obtained on the Bridgestone system using about a half dozen shots with my old driver and the Adams. I think Lyle can vouche for me that it definitely has something to do with the club and shaft and not my lousy swing. Again today other than a couple of realllllly crappy swings I was hitting it pretty straight and sometimes a bit of a draw which is great. Distance is definitly longer than the Wishon was. As far as where on the face I'm hitting it, it's where the lines aren't on the face. The odd one was way off but in general close to the sweet spot.

Just 2 more things Gerry ,then I will leave you alone. Would you say that you are hitting above the centerline on the face for your bombs rather than below it ? And we talking 4 mph. of clubhead speed or ball speed ?

Les I haven't put any impact tape on the face so I have no idea exactly where I'm hitting the face. All I know is that it goes better and I think I wrote above that it was clubhead speed. That's what was measured by the Bridgestone machine.
Mike I have hit more draws with this club than with any other I've ever had in the bag. I like that so I'm not complaining about it. I have had the occasional drive go a lot higher than my Wishon did but overall I like the ball flight. Maybe Lyle can pop in with a couple of the answers as he's the club guy as I just try to hit the ball and sometimes that's really ugly.

Gerry, take it from a guy who has tried a lot of drivers - when you find you one you like you just go with it. There are so many variables involved that you can drive yourself crazy trying to figure out WHY it works.
Personally I'm down to 2 drivers now, and they were both afterthoughts that I never thought would be "the one". My 3-wood is the longest-serving club in my bag, and it was an afterthought too. When its the right one, you just know it. Enjoy!

It sure is!!!!! Played a team match play which is both drive and then alternate shot and I didn't hit very many 2nd shots. Only messed up a couple and that was definitely my swing and not the club. All drives went very straight with a couple of straight pulls.
