OG Matchplay Rnd 2: Simonlap vs. Ruskie, Sat. Jun 19 8:10am @ Equinelle

Simonlap and me will be playing our match for OG tourney. Two spots are available if anyone wants to join us. I'll be returning the spots to the course Thursday evening if noone speaks up.

Out of curiosity, since eQuinelle is not rated, how are you guys determining strokes given/taken? Is this a heads up match?

That's a good point. Our handicaps a approximately 5 points apart, if I'm not mistaken. Any ideas?

Just called the course and they don't have any idea what it might be. They said their rating was supposed to have been in on Jun 5th...

Oh well, worst case I guess we can assume the slope of 113, which will simply round our indexes.

Could you not just select a course use their rating and use it that way? I know the two can be very different, but I am sure there are similar courses with relatively the same layout that probably wouldn't be that far off and just use that. I have heard that it's a lot like Stonebridge.

I guess that could be an option. However, I've often found that even similar-looking courses can have widely disparate ratings. For instance, Stonebridge has relatively low rating, but decent slope (presumably because it's short but tight with difficult greens), while Marshes, which I don't find as difficult on bad days, has the almost the same slope, but higher rating.

In the end, I don't think it'd matter much. It's a fun event, so even if I get shortchanged by a stroke, I won't mind that at all. Besides, I've had lots of practice playing heads-up against better players on the Slammer tour
