Adjusted Score?

I looked this up on google, but I am really not getting what it is? I'm new to golf, I was using the handicap feature on this site and it asked me for my adjusted score. Does this just mean the score I shot that round?

When you are keeping an official handicap there is a limit to the score you can record for any given hole for handicapping purposes. This is referred to as Equitable Stroke Control or ESC.

Your maximum score is based on the course handicap for the round you are playing. I'm going from memory here, but the ESC limits are as follows:

Course handicap = 0 or better: 1 over par
Course handicap = 1 to 18: 2 over par
Course handicap - 19 or higher: 3 over par

So, if your course handicap is a 7 and you make a triple bogey on a hole when you enter your score for handicapping purposes you reduce it by one since your max is 2 over par.

It is the maximum score you can put on a hole ex. if you are a 1-18 handicapper (most of us) you can put of maximum of double bogey on a hole. If you score 90 in a round and hand only pars and bogey, except you shot a 9 on a par 5, you would only write down a 7 on that hole. So your adjusted score is 88 0 or plus 1 over par
1 through 18	2 over par
19 through 32	3 over par
33 and over	4 over par
