Beers during the round
So after playing absolutely terrible on Sunday, I've decided to quit having beers during the round. It's going to be tough but I find I just lose concentration and begin to hurry when I get into the pints.
Scrambles are still in play though as well, that's what there all about!Last edited by Timbuktu; 06-03-2010 at 08:40 AM.

i'm sure drinking + golf would be fun, never tried it. i would only do it if i wasn't keeping score.

We love a beer at the 19th hole but I sure don't like $5 beer from the beer cart out on the course. I get Budweiser at the Beer Store for $1.33 a bottle(empty returns). That is one hell of a markup.

just take ur own booze with you, its against the course rules.... not against the law.

I thought that it was also against the law to take your own beer on the course.

I'm not sure about that. The Liquor Licence Act reads as follows:
Liquor Licence Act
Unlawful possession or consumption
(2) No person shall have or consume liquor in any place other than,
(a) a residence;
(b) premises in respect of which a licence or permit is issued; or
(c) a private place as defined in the regulations. R.S.O. 1990, c. L.19, s. 31 (2).
While there are provisions made in the Regulations for selling beer on the course and drinking in a cart, I could find nothing that allows any player to bring their own liquor on to the course and consume it there. Why would a golf course be any different in this respect than your local pub?

I usually have a 'cool down' beer at one point during my round. When I have a few blow up holes, I find it relaxes me. Hate paying the price on course. Beer Baron!!!!!!!!!!!

I can play better pool and darts when I drink. Better bowler, too. But, one beer on the golf course and I am no longer playing golf, I am out for a walk on a fun day where I haven't a clue where the ball is going and don't care. I am a worse golfer who cares little that I am.
Hmmm...maybe I should try that more often."Golf is the only sport where the most feared opponent is you."

After bogeying the 9th hole last night to shoot a 38 and then shooting a 48 on the back nine I have also decided to give up beer during a round. What a disappointment that was. I could even feel the beer taking effect on about the 8th hole. What a waste.

Depends. Once I was tight and was not playing really well. Had one beer at the turn(not 15- just one) Then I started playing better than I usually do.Go figure.

For me it's an art form to find the rght amount of beer that relaxes me, versus the one that will put me over the edge.
Of course, some rounds I already am having a bad day when the cart girl comes 'round the second or third time so all bets are off then!

May not be against the rules for you personally but any establishment with a liquor license cannot permit the consumption or sale of alcohol that was not purchased under their license.

At one of the courses I play here on PEI, the Cart Girl is a bigger distraction then the beer.

As far as I know, none (or at least very few) of us are out there to make a living out of golf. Who cares if you miss a couple of shots as a result of a beer or two (or five for you heavy drinkers). You should be out there to have a good time and enjoy the outdoors, no?
I'm not saying you need to be liquored to enjoy yourself, but a couple of cans throughout the round are not going to hurt.
I always bring a couple of ice cold cans in my bag.

I enjoy golf because of how hard the game is, I'm sure if I started drinking and making the game harder on myself I wouldn't really be happy which is why I don't drink and just try to play the best that I can. I may not be pro, but I still aspire to be one

I don't usually drink when I play my money games but if I'm out with my buddies who don't play often, I enjoy a few beers when I'm out with them.

no beer for me til the round is done. I get pretty loose after even one.
And I enjoy it much more after the round.

I love having pints on the golf course. Nothing like kicking back in the cart on a hot day and tipping a few Bud Light limes in between shots.
I've gotta take it real deep before my game starts to go sideways from drinking. Being 6'6" and 250lbs I'm able to handle quite a bit of booze before it starts to effect my game negatively. 7-8 pops would be an average round for me, depending on the temperature.

Depending on the time of day , it never hurts to have a beer during a round. I don't have too many , but i am from the Emerald isle , so its like an uwritten law or something for me
At the end of the day ... It gets dark
