Best Bang For Buck Course In Ottawa Area
What's your opinion? Which course in the Ottawa area has the best bang for your buck. This doesn't necessarily mean it's the least expensive, it's the best overall for price, quality of service, conditioning, pace, etc....

Right Now, til the end of may, I would say the 80$ deal at Chateau Montebello is the best bang for the buck. 2 golfers and a cart for 80$ (40$ each). The course is in amazing condition, the greens are like glass, the fairways have zero damage and the views alone are worth the 40$

If Montebello at 80km is "in the Ottawa area" then the Nation at less than 60km is well worth a shout. Interesting layout, good condition and 2 for 1s on a Monday, $27 on a Tuesday and an opening special that gives you 50% of your next round.
I'm afraid that it's too far for me (adding an extra 90 minutes to a round of golf doesn't always sit well with the better half), but I still try and squeeze one or two rounds in a year.
Actual Ottawa courses: I've also thought Manderley and Metcalfe were pretty good value (assuming the latter's green are OK).

Played Montebello on monday. Course was in amazing shape and was one of the most fun rounds I have ever played. Great service and a great deal too.

Nation and Montebello are very tuff to beat... Hammond use to be in my top 5 but not no more... Pricey for what you get in return... Casselview is still good value

Personally I think most of them. We are very fortunate here. Move most of these courses to the GTA and the price goes up between 50 and 100%
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

I think Eagle Creek at $85 is the best deal in Ottawa. I realize that you need to be with a CL member to play, but considering it use to be $100+. Course is always in perfect shape and one of the best in Ottawa imo.

this year I have to say Smiths Falls. I have played a bunch of courses in the ottawa area and Smiths Falls is some of the best conditions I have played. Also Mondays and Fridays after 1pm it is 2 for 1. cost us $34 with a cart on Friday. $21 if your walking!

Tell me more of this talent you speak of...I'm always a big fan of supporting the courses that know what goes into putting together a good beer cart. I'm a big fan of a couple of the "team members" at Anderson Links in that regard.
From a purely value standpoint, I would give a nod to the folks at Greensmere. I am really impressed with that course every time I go out. I find it doesn't get the love it deserves.

Let's not forget that kids and ladies frequent this forum too. We don't encourage rating the "talent" here. We really don't want a "Gentleman's Club" atmosphere. We want everyone to feel welcome so let's please stick to the value aspects of the local facilities.
Thanks.Life dinnae come wit gimmies so yuv got nae chance o' gitt'n any from me.

Some of you need to look up the definition of the phrase 'best bang for the buck'.
I'd say the Meadows get my vote. Either that or Nation if only it wasn't so far for some of us.

Guys, keep it on topic please.

Now that that mess has been cleared up I'd like to remind you all to read the forum rules regarding facility bashing and ranting.
The topic of this thread is "Best bang for the buck" not "Let's vent here"
Please keep the rants and mud slinging off this forum. If you have a problem with a facility, bring it to them. Thank you.Last edited by Kilroy; 05-26-2010 at 02:37 PM.

I'm curious if the 2 players + cart for $80 would work if you were a single...ie $40 for a solo??
Does anyone happen to know? I suppose I could pull out mon dictionaire and give it the old College try with the French thing but it would be much easier for everyone if somebody already knows.

[QUOTE=fundonny;361355]I heard that activating the GPS is extra. If so, that's the dumbest thing I've ever seen a course do. If I'm wrong, then I've been misinformed and I apologize.[/QUO
Casselview has added GPS carts for an extra 5$ a person... didn't take it cause I know the course like the back of my hand but I didn't feel it to be un-reasonable at that rate...Bad days golf, better then a good days work!

Loch March would be my first choice. the elevations are fantastic. ($75ish)
Greensmere Legacy is a fantastic course cut into the woods with MUCH water and many of my balls- as a second choice.

Sorcier with any of it's various specials is a great value. Pakenham, the last time I played it, was absolutely spectacular and very reasonably priced.
While I don't find the course design of Meadows to be all that invigorating (lots of water but absolutely no elevation changes), the course is often in slightly better shape than the other, similarly priced courses in the area.

If you live in Orleans, then Nation is well within comfortable driving distance, and I've been saying for years this is the best golf course for the money within Ottawa region. Sorcier doesnt even compare at $70, name me another course under $50 that challenges you like Nation? Casselview is great too...I'm East-End bias, lol, I know every course out there
