I played my yearly Rideau View round with my father and brother in-law yesterday. Played great on the front nine (2 over) and threw up on myself on the back to finish with an 83. Anyway, the highlight of the round was my near miss hole in one. #6 the second par 3 on the front was about 163 with the wind in our face. Started it out right and it drew nicely back into the flag. I stood there watching and it thinking this is going to be good...then it drew a bit more...then I thought this is going to be really good...the ball landed with a shake of the of flag and rolled right. Upon inspection of the hole, the ball nearly flew right in the cup. The front edge of the hole had a huge chunk missing out of it and the remains were at the bottom of the cup. So my first ace is still alluding me, but I think that's about as close as you can come to having a hole-in-one.
