Taping fingers
I've always had a problem with the padding inbetween the two middle knuckles on my ring fingers and was thinking of taping it so that it is less painful. Does anyone tape their fingers, and what kind of tape should be used? All I can think of is hockey tape, I'm not sure if there's a specialized tape for this kind of thing?
Also, is it illegal to tape two fingers so they're joined?Last edited by DenisO; 05-22-2010 at 10:17 PM.

I had a broken and dislocated middled finger on my right hand during a rugby game once...had it taped up, and had a great game. Being a superstitious beast I continued to tape it for training and games long after it healed.
It's really easy to tape fingers and regular athletic therapist tape works best. I can't imagine for one second why it would be against the rules.

I regularly use hockey tape, whether it's to cover up blisters, or if my hands or fingers start to hurt during around.

I use two strips of hockey tape on my right first finger for every round. I don't think there is any rule against this or anything. I'm pretty sure Kenny Perry uses tape on his fingers for every round also. Doesn't Tiger use it too?

I am almost positive Tiger use to do it and I have seen others do it as well. Can't be against the rules.

Tiger does use white medical tape on his fingers. I use it for blisters from time to time.

Tiger would never do anything unethical ....like knowingly break the rules of golf.

I just found this:
The use of adhesive tape for any medical reason, e.g., to reduce blisters or to eliminate the possibility of skin splits between the fingers, is not contrary to the Rules. However, if a player binds fingers together with tape solely to aid himself in gripping the club, he is in breach of Rule 14-3.

i use the thin surgical tape on blisters and cuts. works better than a band aid. The other day, I was preparing dinner and sliced my thumb badly. I saw my golf career flash before my eyes. Put some surgical tape on it, and i didn't feel any pain the whole round.
You only get out of something what you put into it

I use some of the thin medical tape on my left index finger (i'm right handed) instead of wearing a glove. A roll of it lasts quite a while.
It could be that the purpose of your life is only to serve as a warning to others.
