Gatineau re-opening
I went to drive some balls over there yesterday. I asked the young guys working there and he told me that the course should re-open by the end on this month but he doesn't have any other details.
Are they going to re-use the old club-house ? the same carts? some of them have been damaged (vandalism I suppose). The tee-boxes and greens look very nice but I'm afraid the fairways will be like the ones at Vieux-Moulins (very thin and hard). I anticipate a lot of walking between holes since the golf course strectchs between Eddy and Vanier Road now.

Spoke to a buddy Sunday who lives close to there. He has seen people playing on the course (perhaps guests/sponsors) and heard they are to open the May long weekend (in QC???).

One would hope that they will not open until conditions are quite good. This has been a long time coming and opening for the sake of the all mighty dollar would do more harm than good in this case. They always had great greens there, I hope they can duplicate those greens again, it would go a long way to reestablishing itself as a good course.

Interesting for sure, no elevated greens, 7100+ yds par 72, Graham Cooke design, $30-$59 for a green fee, fully irrigated, no members. Plans are to eliminate the driving range down the road. Enironmental permits and vandalism on new fairways delayed the finishing of the course any earlier. I hope the vandalism stops, it was very bad at the old course, holes placards always being destroyed. I for one will definitely give it a try.

Not Your Daddy's Gatineau!
I had a tour today (No I didn't get to play it yet) and it looks very nice. There are a few rough areas but they are out of play. Most fairways and greens look great, and the ones that are still a bit thin are coming along nicely. Huge greens and tee boxes.
There is some stone quarrying still going on in the north section and some hikes between holes that will be gravelled by the time it opens Fri. Lots of busy workers there today.Life dinnae come wit gimmies so yuv got nae chance o' gitt'n any from me.

Hey Dan, what are the chances you add Gatineau to RM and drop Mont Ste Marie?

As I understand it they will be on RM. Perhaps not in the first couple of weeks but it's supposed to happen. No need to drop anything.

Yikes, that last one looks really tight, houses as close as #11 at Hautes Plaines.

With all those bunkers and water hazards I would guess that the slope will be right up there.

Fairways are wide and the greens are big and not too severe. I think it will play easier than it looks, but it won't be a pushover.

They don't have phone lines yet so you'll book your spot with RM and sign in at the course for now.

They need a net to catch the hookers ..That house on the left will be bonked unless the picture is deceiving in terms of distance.
