Potential Valley roadtrip - suggestions?
I am planning on organizing a mini road trip to the Ottawa valley at some point this fall. Two days, one night. Thinking Renfrew on day one, overnight somewhere, then Dragonfly on day two. Where would be a good nearby place for 8-10 men to stay/eat/drink that evening? Also, if anyone has any suggestions for other courses, please do.

If you are going that way drive to Whitetail, great course and about 20 mins from Renfrew. Lots of places to eat in Renfrew. I would prob play Whitetail and then renfrew but you can't go wrong with Renfrew and Dragonfly either. have fun!

Renfrew & Whitetail would be the two courses to hit up. Accomodations are going to be more of an issue, but the Rocky Mountain House has a motel, with a good food and a small Scottish pub attached to it. Rooms are on the small side though. There's a few other bars in town, Finnigans, Coco Jarry's, Bobsledz. Unless you plan on going when school's out for the summer, or a long weekend, you probably won't see any of them overly packed though.
Let's put a Smile on that Face!

I play all 3 quite a bit and I think whitetail is just more fun than DF. They are both good courses and are usually in good shape. If Df's front 9 was like there back then it would be a different story but WT just has better holes over all imo. I couple of the hsort par 4's at WT I could do with out though but overall a better course

My top 3 for the trip you propose are
#1 Renfrew, #2 Whitetail, #3 Oaks of Cobden.
There's nothing wrong with Dragonfly either, just personally not my favourite course
They are all within 20 minutes of one another, and if I'm not mistaken there were some packages available both through the Rocky Mountain House and the Best Western.
It would have to be one of the most economical weekend golf trips you could find anywhere in the world.Andrew

Calabogie
I would also consider Calabogie. Might be a little more then 20 minutes from downtown Renfrew but I consider it a quality course.

In my opinion Calabogie is the best place to play in the valley . Great course. They have rooms to rent as well.

I would also consider this new course; (Haven't played it yet, but hear great things.)

In fact my golfing party plan to play Whitetail, The Homestead, and possibly Oaks on a weekend valley trip this summer.

If you do choose to play WhiteTail (which I highly recommend), you and your group should travel up the road to Eganville and enjoy a steak at Frisco's.
