    Reconditioned Balls

I am a hack golfer that is trying to break 100 this year. In my game, I lose usually on average 5 or 6 balls, so I prefer to buy reconditioned. What is the general consensus on using reconditioned balls?

I use them and find that they are definitly good enough for me. I buy the 50 ish pack at wallmart which has a mix of golf balls in it. Some of them are not very good, but most are definitly good enough to play. i wouldnt say they are as good as a new ball as they don't quite have the same 'pop' but I don't feel as bad when i put one of the reconditioned ones in the drink.

i was actually in Canadian tire the other day and bought a set for 20$ that was all titleist nxt's, and they were all in decent shape, so my advice is to try CT.

knetgolf.com has a 15% off sale on until Apr 27. Just use the coupon code "spring' at checkout.

Thier "mint" balls are good as new and very inexpensive. Free shipping on orders of $69 or more.

I play them and they are fine. Walmart sells used ProV1's for $18 / 24. you can't beat that. They have cheaper ones as well.

My first season and a half I'd buy the bags of 48 from SportChek, they were perfectly fine for my playing abilities. Once I started to shoot in the low-mid 90's is when I started actually buying balls (although still on the cheaper side )

I really don't see a point in paying a lot for balls early on, since I don't think there's enough skill to be able to use the balls to your advantage.

Walmart has a shag bag of balls, I think 100 for $20.

Can't beat 'em for value, that's for sure.

I normally golf (Titleist) DTs but picked up 72 reconditioned V1s at the golf show for peanuts.

AND the worst "reconditioned" ball always looks better than any brand-new one after my first few shanks on #1 ... (grin)

    Cheers!

There can be a big difference between "used" and "reconditioned".

I have no problem buying "used" golf balls from Knet and other similar golf ball re-sellers, where they typically have various condition ratings that are spelled out in advance and you know what you're getting.

When the package says "reconditioned", that often means "repainted". You'll know for sure if they were repainted if they all look like they're brand new. The "true" condition of these balls can vary widely, so for that reason I will never buy them.

also reconditioned balls have been repainted with the brand name restamped. There is no guarantee your ProV1 is not a Kro-Flite.
