This is one of the matchups where the Sens may have the edge in goal...Fleury was great last year, but has really struggled this year.
All things being equal, I believe that Elliott could very well outplay Fleury. And that's what needs to happen for the Sens to win. They are simply too banged up to try have an offensive-type series.
BTW, anyone see Matt Cooke eat a right hand from Evander Kane last night? Hope he's out for at least a few games.

Stating the obvious, it depends which Sens team shows up. I have never seen a team win and lose in bunches like the Sens this year. I think the Pens could be had. Fleury has not been great and I think the toll of back to back Cup visits is starting to show.
Given all of that I think the Sens lose in 6.I don't have an ulcer - I am just a carrier.

I agree. Too tough to call. It all depends on which Sens show up to play.

Pitt will win this series 4-1. Fleury has been there...Sens goalies have zero history in playoffs.. and thats a big worry.

i like my hawks - have not sipped the cup sine 61 - been waiting for a while - the biggest quest to the holy grail is the man between the pipes! - who is going to show?
Red wings do put alot of scare in teams - they are jelling at the right time! they seem to do it the hard way - it now seems they play the Yotes - Wings will take them - this will be the must series to watch!
- as for the the poor ole Sens - too bad - as i said in previous posts - not a tight team - never been tight - they will never sniff Lord Stanley!
- Should do major house cleaining! Need a MAN in the PIPES!
plus a new GM - - need New Young blood - old school thinking and trading is long gone!!!! -
Brain it's been to long- hand it your resignation!!
that's my take - SMACK!

Based on my first round predictions, yes.
Caps over Habs, why? too much firepower
NJ over Philly, why? Brodeur
Buff over Bos, why? Miller
Pens over Sens, why? Gary Bettman
Sharks over Avalance, why? Avs youth.
Hawks/Preds, My brain says Hawks, my heart wants Preds.
Canucks over Kings, why? Kings poor play to end the year.
Coyotes over Wings, why? Bryzgalov will play like the iron curtain and stone us. These Wings dont have the firepower of years past. You only get out of something what you put into it

for the sens to win Clouston has to out-coach Bylsma, and I think it's very possible

The key is goal tending. Eliott is the key, he has to play tough and the D-men in front have to clear out the rebounds and never give up a crappy goal which even in his streak he would let one in. The Sens goal scoring is more well balanced this year so if the first line gets shut down then they can still score. Spezza has to play smart and not turn the puck over every single frikin shift. Its a good match up for the Sens, if they get passed this they may play Buffalo next and they will play well against them.
Pittsburgh had trouble toward the end of the year, if the Sens win the first game it will be a long series, if they lose it then things will be very tough from there.Lefty Lucas

Goaltending will be crucial for both teams, but more important than that will be Cory Clouston. If Cory Clouston can't get the Phillips/Volchenkov (or at least Sutton) out against Crosby, the Sens are doomed. Crosby on Lee = doom for the Sens.

Not only possible, but probable.
Even though Clouston is one of the best coaches in the NHL it's going to be tough to get the match-ups he wants when they're playing in Pitt. Goaltending will of course be the rubber.
I'll be a homer and say Sens in 7 with Brian Elliot being the series star.Al Gore didn't invent the internet, but he did invent global warming.

it's easy to pick upsets when there are no consequences. wink wink nudge nudge.
you have 3 upset picks. Flyers, Avs, Sens. if any 2/3 of these picks come true, i'll give you a sleeve of Callaway tour i balls. new. a $10 value.
if only 1/3 or 0/3 materialize, what do offer in return? You only get out of something what you put into it

I don't think the Avs will beat the Sharks. The Avs struggled down the stretch. Youth is a great equalizer, in some cases, but I don't think it will this time. But the no matter who they play, the Sharks will have a tough time getting out of the second round.

I'll say Rinne stands on his head and Nashville beats Chicago.
If I'm right, I'll buy myself a sleeve of balls. If I'm wrong, I'll buy myself a bottle of Shiraz.Al Gore didn't invent the internet, but he did invent global warming.
