mcateer73 vs goochy
Not sure this belongs here being this is not trash talk but thought I should post this somewhere.
Unfortunatly goochy could not make due to last minute family commitmets. He put in the extra effort when he could not make it. He emailed me this morning and phoned the pro shop just to make sure I knew he would not be coming.
He has offer to make it up to me by having me over to his club.
Goochy you seem like a real gentlmean and a stand up guy. I look forward to meeting in the future (at your club).Made man

guess what guys? my golf game is about to improve bigtime!
i got fitted by a callaway rep, it turns out the shafts i was using were too heavy and stiff. he made to swing a different shaft, and my god there was a huge difference in weight and feel. my 6 iron was going about 150 yards with the 6.0 flex shafts, but with these 5.5 flex i was hitting the 6 iron 189 yards.

I see trouble on the way

I'm not afraid mate (Kilroy might be though!)...I don't know the meaning of the word!
BTW If you want to sell those Project X 6.0 shafts I know someone who might be interested

i was hoping to play some golf this weekend but my irons are being changed. i wonder what score i would get if i only used woods, wedges, and a putter.

I've seen guys who shoot 85 normally (12 hcp) shoot right around bogey golf with a 7 iron and a putter more than once.
I have yet to try it myself.
With a 5 wood, 7 iron, sand wedge and a putter you should be able to play a pretty normal round.Life dinnae come wit gimmies so yuv got nae chance o' gitt'n any from me.

You may find it challenging without anthying between a hybrid and a sandwedge, but it shouldn't be that bad. I recommend a stop at the range to get the distance for 1/4 1/2 and 3/4 hybrid shots. You'll be needing that info!

Not at all. You should try that with all your clubs. The best players do.
Lee Travino was once asked "What club do you hit from 150 yards?"
His answer was "What club do you want me to hit?"Life dinnae come wit gimmies so yuv got nae chance o' gitt'n any from me.

Nice. I've been keeping track of my distances but only max distances of each club. i should write down 3/4, 2/4, and 1/4 too because sometimes i'm in the rough and need to hit a low shot back onto the fairway, i completely misjudge the distance of my long irons and woods.

If my tutelage helps you get to a 10 it will make me happy but you will have to come and wash at least one rim.

whahaha. hey if your tutelage gets me to 10 i'll do the whole car at no cost! my treat.
here's a question for you, how do you feel about opening the stance for higher lofted irons? should i open my stance more for a 9 iron than for a 5 iron?
http://www.leclocher.com/private/stance.html
Arnold Palmer opens his stance according to that article in golf digest. However, a guy like Nick Price uses the same stance for all the irons. When i play, i can do either. But if I open the stance on a 9 iron, I also have to open the club head to compensate for the open stance. If i open the stance without opening the grip, my shot will go to the left. (i'm right handed). so which way of taking the stance is better?
maybe it's already been discussed on the forum so i will do a little search now.You only get out of something what you put into it

Sorry dude swing questions are not my area. Try the instruction forum for opinions or see your CPGA pro for truly sound advice that applies to you.
I can help on rules, handicapping, course management and the like but there is no way I'd ever advise someone on the golf swing.Life dinnae come wit gimmies so yuv got nae chance o' gitt'n any from me.

falcon ridge driving range was brutal this morning. wind howling at my face, i hit my 5 wood only 100 yards. after 20 minutes i couldn't feel my fingers even with gloves on. not sure if this kind of practice is beneficial or detrimental to my game. pitching and putting was fun though.

Goochy is the man
Well the beatdown finally took place at Greyhawk.
I thought on the back nine when the wheels fell off completely, and I started shanking wedges that Goochy ask me to leave his course. Especially after I bounced one off his pull cart and nearly got him in the "Family Jewels".
This guy is a pretty brave.
Before this round, I thought the game was coming along. I hope this was just one of those days and never repeat this type of disterous round agian.
Course was awsome though.
Thanks again Goochy, and I will have you to a round and pints.Made man
