I Cracked My (Drivers) Head!!!
Has anyone here every cracked a driver head before? I'm wondering because I did today at the range. The club is a Maxfli Powermax. Nowhere near high end, but not necessarily total garbage either(or perhaps it is since it cracked). It had probably less than a dozen rounds and a few range sessions on it. I've heard of drivers splitting at ranges after repeated outings and contacts with the rubber tees, but I'm pretty certain it's not a regular occurance. So. Has anyone had any experience with this phenomenon?

I've cracked 2 Ti heads many years ago along the bottom weld. Both were most likely due to repeated use at the range with the rubber tees. Have not seen it since with newer heads probably due to better manufacturing and materials. My SS is only 95-100 mph so it is not like I generate enough speed to otherwise break one.

Hmmm. Perhaps more common than I thought.

I've cracked two in the last two years. They both send me the same model new in a week.

I cracked a Titleist head in 100-degree weather, so the balls were definitely NOT frozen.

I've cracked two heads. One was a compostie crowned head, the other was a Adams GT 363. Split from the face down onto the sole to the back of the heel.

here's a question. how many of you have cracked the heads of your driver in the summer. perhaps colder temperatures make them more vulnerable to cracking?

I cracked the face of a Taylormade R5 2 years ago. Golftown replaced it for free with a Tour Burner in 5 days even though the club was through the warranty period.

Mine were both in the middle of the summer; it's just metal fatigue

Have I ever cracked a driver??? How about 7?
I bought a new Callaway something or other (Steelhead perhaps) a number of years ago and had it out at the range. I was hitting it well until it made this strange sound. I looked at the head (thought it might have come loose) scraped a bit of dirt off the top leading edge – and sliced my finger open.
The club had separated front of center for about 2 inches. Took it back to the golf store that used to be at Hampton Park (Nevada Bob’s?) and got a new one right away.
Out to the range and – crack, there goes another one.
FIVE cracks later (seven in all) I quit and bought a Ping.
Callaway sent me a towel though .

I actually caved the face of my FT-5 tonight. It's not overly noticeable and didn't seem to affect playability as it was a touch higher up on the clubface but it still gets in your head while over the ball. You end up wondering if this is going to be the swing to really make the matter worse...
I plan on sending it back to Callaway through my club. They better well do something, I loved this driver and it cost me a fortune (around 800 with shaft upgrade) when I first bought it.
So long my love! You treated me well...
