If any of you Canadian friends are in a US location on vacation when one of these events are being held you are allowed to play as a guest ONE time.

Play more rounds with my 7 year old daughter. The more time I spend with her, the longer I'll play golf with her in the future.

    Lightbulb Swing easy

Enjoy the moment. Last year my season ended after only 5 games with a back/hip injury. With the time off I had a chance to reflect on my game and how I could enjoy it more if I could play again . There is improvement and the two trips to the range have not produced any pain, perhaps thanks to the back brace. In the past I’ve focussed too much on my score, for the hole and round, which put unnecessary pressure on me... took the fun out of the game. I’ll start the season just appreciating that I can get out and play. I’ll try my best, but if I duff one or more it won’t matter because I won’t be keeping score. Hopefully with the pressure off I can enjoy the day, the company, and the game more. I want to be able to recreate the feeling I always have on the course when I play best-ball foursomes. There is no pressure to achieve, because there is still three others who can pick up the slack. Have a great season!

Well I started playing golf 2 yrs ago and have played maybe 40 rounds total now.

    My Goals:

    1. Sell a few more homes so my wife lets me take lessons
    2. Better ball contact
    3. Break 80 (my lowest round was 81 at greensmere and perth)
    4. Get an Eagle (have had 2.. Richmond Centennial hole#7 i think....)
    5. Meet more OG members
    6. Have more fun and be positive
    7. Try to keep my wife at home. (last year she knocked me out with her PW!!!)

    Have a good season fellas!

Good job Eagle, only 2 years and already shooting in the low 80s and 2 eagles? I'm impressed!
I've been playing for 2 years now as well, start of my 3rd year and my goals are:

    1. Take lessons throughout the summer
    2. Consistently shoot in the low-mid 80's
    3. Make two birdies in a row
    4. Have a practice routine instead of just smashing balls for 45 minutes
    5. Make enough money to quit my job, move down south, and be able to play golf all year round

    Thanks,

I have yet to shoot in the 80's so far this year. Most rounds have been the mid 90's! We will have to play together sometime I am a member of RM so whenever you want to play one of those courses let me know.

I think I have to set the bar a little lower now that I had a horrid (118) round at Le Sorcier.

    1) Find a repeatable swing. My swing changes almost every time out and it's been that way since my early years. As a result, I get the occasional monster score which balloons my average.

    2) Golf under 50 for every nine I play. Last year I broke 100 about 65-70% of the rounds I played, but it was often front 47, back 52 or vice versa. If I can break 50 every time, I can start scoring in the 90-95 range (my average last year was 104).

    3) Break 40 on a nine. I know it's in me. At my peak (almost a decade ago now). I was a low-mid 80s player. My lowest 9 ever was a 38. Since I took a 2 year break from golf (when I went to university) in 2001-2002, I haven't really scored anywhere close to that low except for a freak round at pineview last year where I shot 83 (43-40), where my next lowest score was in the mid 90's, so it could happen.

    4) Play as many different courses as possible. I started this trend 2 years ago and I want to keep going with it. I want to play as many new courses as I can this year (I also have more financial flexibility to do so). I don't want to play the same course twice within the season. I realize this can have a negative effect on my scoring due to lack of local course knowledge, but I see no reason to limit myself from experiencing golf courses for the first time. (granted, I will undoubtedly play an old favourite or two at some point this year)

    5) Get 5 birdies on the season. I've never scored more than 3 birdies in a season, even at my peak. This year, I've already set myself up with 4 birdie putts of under 12 feet but haven't sunk any (2 lip outs, one putt was just short and blasted one by and 3-putt). I want to sink 5 (or chip in if I have to). Last year I managed 2 birdies and I only played a dozen times. This year, I intend to play a lot more so the opportunity should be there.

    my goals for 2010 were:

-to shoot a round in the 70's, check (5x)
    -walk instead of carting, check
-play 18 holes with the same ball, check
    -never 3 putt, fail
-get my gf to take up golf, fail

    new 2010 goals:

-a round of par or better
    -get my first eagle EVER
-shoot in the 70's at loch march
-defeat LeftyLuc in matchplay, straight up!

I met my goal for 2010 already this year (improve upon my best round), so here's my list:

    1) Break 90 more often. I've done it twice last year and once this year already.
    2) Get a hole in one. A man can dream...
    3) Get an eagle. Got one last year. God, they're sweet.
    4) Break 80? Bit of a stretch-goal since I improved my best round today with an 84 at Cartier. I know I've got a 79 in me on the right day.
    5) Go on a golf vacation somewhere.

The first 2 are ambitious and seeing you are now at an equal HC or better then you have plenty of chance to defeat me, I am no biggie, a lot of people have reached that goal already

to me, you're still the defending champ of matchplay. nobody really 'beat you' this year. so if i can beat you it would be nice.

    My goals are simple:

    1) Break 100 for the first time. (i'm sooooo close)
    2) Score in the 90's more often then the low 100's.........
    3) Get an Eagle.

Number 1 is most likely.... number 2 we'll see, number 3, will require tons of luck on a short par 5! lol

Well, after a long, long time. (I think i've been golfing around 9 or 10 years or so?) I finally achieved goal 1 at the new Legacy course at Greensmere yesterday!

I finally had a round where everything worked (mostly) and my usual "forget how to swing for a few holes and getting tons of triples" didn't happen.

I shot a 96, with 2 pars, 10 bogeys, 5 doubles, and only one triple on the very last par 5 with the highly elevated green!

I find it funny that I finally broke 100 (from the whites, btw) on one of the more challenging courses I've played on, yet I only managed low 100s on a place like Manderlay, lol.

I suppose what helped is because some of the looks off the tee on Legacy were pretty scary that I played it safe and wasn't afraid to just use my 3 iron on some shots. Also helped that when I DID make bad swings, they at least rolled forwards, and not into the trees.

Anyway, just wanted to brag a bit. (and wonder why it's taken so long!) And finally, to hope it will happen again........ sooner rather then later.

-breaking 80-got to 82 last year at my peak then fell off
-keep getting better, made some strides last year and want to keep it going
    -Play 70-100 rounds
-lose 15-20 pounds (mostly by walking 70-100 rounds)
    -really work on putting greens

Well, so much for stack and tilt but today I finally got my 78 to break the 80 . Flirted with it the last week and 3 birds today really took off a lot of pressure. Also nearing 70 rounds this year (with missing about 3 1/2 weeks of playing already this summer). The weight loss is looking like a failed goal unfortunately.

    4. Try to go the whole year without shooting 90 (or more)
    5. Another ace would be nice (I do have 2 so far..)
    6. Golf with more forum members
    7. Try to improve my "mental" game.
My season has been horrible, but lets see..

    1. I did win a NCGT event!!
    2. Nope. I have some good rounds, but my driving is not that good.
    3. I was around an 11. Probably the worst 11 in the country though.
    4. Shot at least 3 rounds in the 90's.
    5. No aces.
    6. Not enough golf with forum members, but did get a couple in here and there.
    7. It has got worse. Much much worse.

    1. Fail...so far. Shot 70 twice in the last 2 weeks.

    3. Pass...I guess again. Terrible round was round #2
    4. Pass...

No not over. Fall for me usually involves me trying "next year's swing" and playing with new equipment.
