Question Looking for recommendations on a new set of irons...

I'm playing a set of 2005 TM RAC OS irons, and I think its time to upgrade. Why not, I deserve it, right!!!

I've been taking winter lessons for the last 3 yrs, including this one. Shoot in the mid to high 80's, as long as I stay out of trouble. I play about 15 rounds a year, but would like to go to 20+ this year.

Looking for a forgiving, easy to hit set of irons. Don't really work the ball, would be happy to hit 'em straight all day long.

Considering the 09 Burners, as they seem to have rave reviews. Also considering the r9's and x22's or x20's. I'll be getting them fitted after my lessons as well.
    Thoughts?

hey Mike, take a good look at Mizuno. They've got some really solid sticks with forged heads. Look at the MX-200 or 300 lines or an older set of MX-25s or 23s
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

Pick up the latest golf digest. Equipment issue. You'll love it.

I'm at 14 handicap, (just finished my second season playing golf) and purchased a set of the 09 Burner irons last year after being fitted. I strongly suggest going to a place like Kevin Haime and trying all the different irons. They will work with you and allow you to test all the different brand/models built to your spec.

The 09 Burners weren't even on my original list of clubs to buy (replacing R7 irons) until the fitter recommended I at least tried them after going through Titleist, Callaways, Pings etc. I hit them and it was strongly between them, and the X22s.

Trust me, you will know when you have the right club because it will just feel right. Its worth the $80

Why dont you ask your pro for help? They should have a good understanding of your swing and what will work best for you.

I had TM RAC OS as well and sold them. I bought 09 Burners and love them. The R9's weren't available at the time, but I made the right choice IMO. The Burners have a stronger loft compared to the RAC's. The Burner 6 iron is 27 deg. and the RAC is 29 deg. The A wedge was a club I was looking for as well.

I've been playing TM RAC HT since 2005. The HT are the predecessors of the OS. I picked up a set of Nickent 4DX Pro from Golf Town a couple weeks ago. I was looking for a more traditional looking set of irons and was planning on buying something used. I tried these and they feel awesome, and the price is right ($225). You can't get a forged club, with 2 hybrids, for a better price. GT was out of stock but they were able to order them in for me.
