    Golf Digest Equipment Issue

    Anyone see anything they like?

I love the look of the Callaway Diablo Forged irons.... I might give those a run at a Callaway demo day.

I would like to get my hands on some of the new Ping hybrids. Not sure which model yet, will have to try them out!

The diablo forged irons are definetly something worth a look. I had them in my hands yesterday and they are purdy, think Cally x-tour with slightly more offset and possibly a little lnger from toe to heel.

    This just in !!

The new OEM standard for loft on a 6i is.... 28*!!

The TM Burner 6i is 27*!!!!

Add in a C.O.R factor on some models.

Do ya think they are targeting the Baby Boomers who used to hit a 31* 6i 165 yrd. 20 yrs. ago ?

LOL - I think it's a combo of that and rackin you in for more $ on wedge sales and padding egos.

I seriously don't get it. Irons aren't about hitting the ball long distance - they're about hitting the ball the same distance all the time...get the goldarned ego out of it and make iron lofts that make sense. What do we have as a result - a 3 iron, a club 85% of golfers can't hit, which now is lofted like a 1 iron, which not even God can hit, so golfers need to buy 2 or three hybrids. Next, we end up with a ridiculous spread of lofts in the wedges because pitching wedges are now 44 - 46*, so you pretty much need three wedges. I swear, it is almost to the point where it feels like we're buying a full set of 8 irons to use 3 or 4 and then buy a bunch of other clubs to make them usable - lol.
